By all accounts, Thiem made a poor showing, once he got broken. Not sure what is up with that.

Exactly. I know he is not himself on grass, but it almost feels like he didn't even try to win it the last 2 sets, to do something, maybe take a match to 5th. He fulfilled his duty, showed up, tried for the first part of the match and that's it. Later he have given up and capitulated without resistance.

The upset was dull beating a prime Fed at AO 09.

Lol yeah especially since Nadal had beaten him at Wimbledon a few months prior and it was his 5th win in a row against him and he was the no.1 seed. :lol3:

Opelka is some character from animated cartoons that was brought to life by some mad scientist. I always see him with one odd tooth going out of his mouth from his lower lip and a caveman club over his shoulder.

Top Brit Edmund has been upset by Fernando. While the gap between their ranking was not very big, Edmund was seeded and now there is one less left in the running.

He's going to be kicking himself about that one. He was up 2 sets and 3-0. But it seemed clear the knee was bothering him in the last sets. Still, he could have been in the locker room and into the next round.

On Wednesday, I project at least three upsets from the following five matches.

1. KK vs. Deliciano (Deliciano is hot right now)
2. Medvedev vs. Popyrin. (Alex is the hottest young thing now, IMO)
3. Stan vs. Opelka (A big server and a player whose game does not suit grass)
4. Edmund vs. Verdasco (Verdasco is 2-0 H2H and a Britisher on CC)
5. Pella vs. Seppi (Pella is a clay courter and Seppi is a veteran).
You got 2...not bad!

PS: (Deliciano is always hot. ;) )

Not a good day for seeds.
De Minaur, Basilashvili, Isner, Cilic all were sent home.

Did anyone see any of Cilic's match? He's been struggling of late, but to be straight-setted by Sousa seems like something must have been really off.

A bad tournament for men’s seeds.

Not bad, that is 19 out of 32 who made it to 3R. 59.375% conversion rate. But, we are used to about 75% or higher on the Men's side after two rounds.

On Friday, I call for 1.5 upsets from the following three matches.

  1. Goffin to take out Medvedev
  2. Opelka to remove Raonic (fighting fire with fire).
  3. Vesely to oust Paire.

Vesely makes sense, as grass seems to be his best surface. He was a few times in R4 here.

You still have one chance left today, although McFly is already down a set

With the elimination of Anderson, 4 out of the top 8 are gone.
At least 4 quarterfinalists will be "other guys".
