6. Kei Nishikori 3675
7. David Ferrer 3535 ----- 140
8. Thomas Berdych 3510 ----- 25
9. Milos Raonic 3425 ----- 85
10. Grigor Dimitrov 3335 ----- 90
11. Andy Murray 3155 ----- 180

Three of the above will probably make it to WTF. I just now lookup the FedEx performance
rating of these six on indoor courts (a swing that will impact qualification) and found out
that Murray, Berdych and Raonic have better indoor court career performance record
than the other three.

I wouldn't be upset to not see Ferrer, Raonic or Berdych there. Love watching both Kei and Dimi. And having Murray there just makes sense as it's London. Although by that time he might just be Scottish, so he could be just another foreigner! :snigger

^ Why should he, since that's based on what intel? You're such an hysteric. :nono:puzzled:angel::laydownlaughing

Actually, I would not be surprised if Nadal ends with YE #1 again. He tends to play
well when coming after breaks. Also, Novak is expected to miss Bercy, an ATP 1000
event due to impending arrival in the family.

I thought his wife is due later this month? If that's the case he probably doesn't miss any of the MS events or YEC. I'd be surprised if Novak doesn't finish #1, he has been excellent in Fall the last 2 years and even if he misses 1 of the MS events I don't think Roger or Rafa will get enough points to finish ahead of him.

If I remember well, Novak's wife is due in the second half of October. That would be after Beijing and Shanghai. If this happens, he might go to Paris or not.

Ok well that could change things. If the baby comes right before Paris I highly doubt he plays there.

Berdych seems to be stickied into a top ten ranking, without ever winning anything, or making finals or semis in majors.

Okay, an exaggeration, but you know what I mean...

He is steady Tommy, stuck in that 5-7 ranking area.

And you can write off any chance of his winning the WTF. So.. with rumours that Rafa checks out for the year. Great chance for Roger to win number 7

I think Roger has a good chance regardless of who plays but obviously Nole is favorite at YEC if he is there. Roger even made the semis last year after all. I'm sure Nole would play the YEC but perhaps his focus would be on his family.

Hmm, I would not be that sure. He might want to win WTF for his wife and kid. Novak the serbinator could be turned on like a switch.

Mabye. But so far, he hasn't demonstrated an ability to shut out things in his personal life and win tournaments. That's a pretty big tournament, and you can't work you way in. You need to be zoned in right from the start. I wouldn't bet on him

Hopefully Andy will still make it. He showed signs of progress these last tournaments but he also did in Rome and Roland Garros before flopping on the grass so we'll see. I think he'll sneak in.

I would like to see Nishikori in there. Ferrer and Berdych have become after thoughts at the top and I don't think too many people are bothered about them anymore with the new blood on the scene, I'm certainly not.

So I suppose if it was me I'd take Kei, Andy, Dimitrov, because I'm not a fan of Raonic.

Those three were exactly my choices too. I guess they are the choices of many; if only
we could elect players for the remaining WTF spots, they will make it.

Why should Andy rate a spot; just because he usually does? He hasn't done anything, been away for a while, and didn't even make a major semi! I don't think he deserves an invitation at all; even if he qualified by a point!

He reached the semis in Paris, where Rafa exercised his option to "tank" him...

98% of the members of this forum would throw Raonic under the bus if it would be possible.
Ferrer is almost in the same situation, someone called him senile ?:puzzled
In this case, how do you call Roger? I will be starting to call him "Olderer" as Isabelle does.

I guess I'm really not keeping up with things; why would Raonic have so many indifferent or viscerally annoyed fans out there? I'm no fan, but it wouldn't bother me if he was part "of the future" of men's tennis either! He has a lot of work ahead of him, but he has the tools! He has to do it sooner than later due to his height! Eventually he'll start breaking down like most with that type of physique!

Simple answer to that one. Quite apart from most people not particularly enjoying his style of play. He was involved in a cheating controversy last year. If my recollection is correct, he touched the net, but didn't own up to it. That's bad enough, but what really riled a lot of folks is that he rather brazenly admitted touching the net when he was interviewed later and said that while he knew he'd touched the net he didn't see it as his responsibility to own up. Uggh...

Here's a link..

http://www.tennis-x.com/xblog/2013-08-08/13263.php

I believe he's since regretted his actions, but my suspicion is that's because so many people disapproved. For me he showed his true colours..

There is a big difference between not playing the Asian Swing and checking out for the year :snigger

Nadal still has Basel, Paris, London (and even if he doesn't consider tennis an indoor sport, I think he'll try to win London, as he's made the final twice).

The rumour I heard was that he'll not bother showing up for the rest of the year... But obviously that could be wrong

Good point, rumors are as credible as people. Very rarely have I met a credible person :snigger

ATP is slow in recognizing. He has actually qualified as per live rankings as well.
