If you didn't see Carolines win - here is the possibillity:

Caroline back at #7 in the rankings and #7 on the racelist Monday - #6 if you don't count Li Na - quite a comeback. Looking forward to a good final between Caroline and Ana.

Nr. 7 in the race to Singapore? Isn't Ana in front of her as nr. 7?

good for caro. "we" shell meat in the wuhan final after she beats ana twice on the way ;)

P.S. - I am back to my posting powers! :celeb:
At last I got rid of the post trauma caused by seeing 50,000 stupid tennis fans on the main forum on the net (not here). Took me time to get back to myself. I couldnt believe my eyes!
Back then on July 2013 when I joined that main forum I thought tennis fans are intelligent.
HOW LITTLE I KNEW ;) :D
I watched too much Eurosport and their "educated analysis".
I thought all tennis fans are like that. I was so wrong :D

Ana is 8 and Woz is 9 with less than 200 points between (And Bouchard further up with some 70 points). Now with Li Na gone that would be 7 and 8. It's heating up, we could see 3 more spots to Singapore snatched in Wuhan.

I know. It was a reply to Hoergren. He wrote that Cato was nr 7 in the ranks and in the race on Monday, but in the race Ana is in front of her....

Final stats for the match won by Caroline Wozniacki 64 26 62

Caroline 27/16

Garbine 53/50

53 winners, and lost the match. :puzzled

Most are too obsessed with the winners stats of matches whereas it's the winners vs UE's differential that's much more telling. If memory serves Wozniacki hasn't lost a match since Eastbourne where her numbers were in the positive, and (much) more often than not they have been post-Rory.

Yeah, of course W-UFE is the right stat to take into consideration. Independently winners and unforced errors don't tell the whole story. Now if you really want to get into it, the forced errors are again a good stat, but it's one that is so subjective that you never see it displayed.

VIRTUAL RANKINGS after the final in Tokyo

1 Serena Williams 9430
2 Simona Halep 6160
3 Petra Kvitova 5926
4 Maria Sharapova 5576

7 Caroline Wozniacki 4500
8 Eugenie Bouchard 4433
9 Angelique Kerber 4400
10 Ana Ivanovic 4180

You're welcome to do the works.

About the race - maybe I was too quick - but the race is also the 4 slams and all mandatory results + the best two Premier5 level. Caro has only played 16 tournaments this year where Ana has played 17. Have to have a closer look at Ana's points.

The virtual racelist after the final in Tokyo - was a bit wrong - sorry:nono

VIRTUAL RANKINGS before the final in Tokyo (inclusive points achieved till now)

5 Na Li 5270

I was talking about the race to Singapore? I know Caro is in front of Ana in the rankings overall but not in the race to Singapore. And she has earned a much points as Caro so far in Tokyo, so how can she be better than her? She might be, if she wins the final tomorrow....

Final stats for the match won by Caroline Wozniacki 64 26 62

Caroline 27/16

Garbine 53/50

53 winners, and lost the match. :puzzled

Garbine could not convert her BP chances...for example in the 1st set she had 9 chances and could not convert and Caroline converted with 1 of the 2 BP chances she had in the 1st set winning 64

Overall when you look at Garbine's overall BP stats in the match 4/23

Also some of those ufe made by Garbine were made at critical times in the match

All credit to Caroline she really she really turned the match around into her favour in the 3rd set, played more aggressive, showed her true grit and deserved to win the match.
Only saw a little of this match, but ufe a real key to Garbine's failure to win the match. Caro continues to play quality tennis and waits for her opponents to implode. Pretty simple strategy.

Caro dished out a few winners herself, 27 is not chump change, the key here was Caro's low error count, which is normal for her, if one gives away 50 points and only gets 16 in return, that's 34 points difference, Caro scored 103 points, Mugu scored 101 points. Can't gift 50 points to Caro, she will take you to cleaners. The break point conversion was dismal for both, Mugu was 4/23, Caro 5/17

The margins are very close for the kind of game Garbie plays, unless she was aiming for the lines, Caro would send it back, this caught up with her in the last set, she just couldn't hit it as clean as she did in the second set.
That second set does show me Mugu's huge potential and talent, she can fire winners from both wings without much effort.

That area of forced error's is a bug bear of mine. They are never displayed. To me they should be shown in a match. To me the BP stat is one of the most important stats of a match.

Ivanovic leads h2h 4-2 over Woznicacki, their last meeting was a s/final at Monterrey this year, which Ana won, though if my memory is working,it was a close match.
