I hope he passed painlessly. Wishing members of his family strength in dealing with their loss. They should take comfort in knowing how much he meant to those whose lives he touched.

OMG No, NO, NO, NO, NO!! I was hoping he would pull through this. That was so fast. I felt like I knew him. This is so hard right now. Have to leave this thread.

I am so sorry to read that rubydo has passed. My condolences to his family. Based on his posts and writings, he seemed to love and enjoy life and that is a wonderful testament for everyone.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest form of cancer because it can't be detected until it is too late. Life expectancy is typically 6 months from time of diagnosis. The speed of progression of the disease must have shocked most of you who do not have medical training. The direness of Dave's condition was evident to me, but I could not post my thoughts for obvious reasons.

Take heart in knowing your posts gave him comfort in his final days.

Cheers to a good man... the suffering is over.

His thread reminds us, that even through our verbal battles over players and points of view, we're here for each other. He must have been happily surprised to see such an outpouring of support from those whose faces he's never seen. Reading your words and thoughts to him, touched my heart.

I wish his family could know how he affected people outside of his hometown and country.
We'll miss you Dave :(

Most of us knew the direness of Dave's condition, but we could not post anything about it because we needed to encourage him. I know of several people who has the illness and who are still living. Ruth Bader Ginsberg one of our Supreme court judges has had it for years and she's still around. Of course she's older and the older you are it slows down the progression of the illness. My dentist son was diagnose with it at 3yrs old and he's now 25. A family friend was diagnose with it and lived exactly 2yrs before she died. As a matter of fact 7/1 was the 4th year of her death. Apparently, Dave was far gone when he told us. We do not know how long he had the illness before he disclosed it to the board.
