This is not a thread I ever thought I would have to send to all of you. After a few weeks of illness, I have been told that I have liver cancer, not sure the severity of it yet. But, as you can understand I will be out commission tennis wise for sometime. Still have not cancelled Eastbourne, in late June.
I have been with all of you for sometime now and I just felt you should all know. I am a real fighter gone through a number of major illness's but this will be my biggest challenge. Do a little tennis prayer for me.
Best,
Dave:)

I'm so sorry, Dave, but thank you for letting us know. You are one of the original members, so I'm glad you felt you could share this with us.

I'm delighted you haven't cancelled Eastbourne. That's a sure sign you're a true fighter.

Your friend,

Trent

Dave,

Wishing you well mate for the fight ahead. Everyone will be behind you and hopefully the tennis will be a necessary light hearted distraction during tough times.

Stay in touch and be lucky. We will be saying a few prayers at this end.

Sorry to hear the news. Stay positive. The mind exerts more of an influence on the body than most people realize. I hope you fight through this quickly, and life will be back to the usual for you and yours.
All the best!

Dave, Sorry to hear this news. Try to stay positive and do what you have to do to get better. My dad has been fighting cancer as well but by God's grace he is doing well. I have devotions with my family every morning before my kids and I head out the door so we will be praying for you to get through this. Please keep us up to date and come on over to TTF when you need to vent or just dive into tennis to take your mind off things. You've got people all over the world praying and wishing the best for you!

Finding out tomorrow with specialist what the scan has showed, will give me more information on just what stage and how much cancer there is Kirijax. In tennis terms I want to bagel this thing totally!!

I don't know whether people are aware of a recent quantitative study which concludes that
random mutations
plays a large role in how one gets cancer (in comparison to
other factors such as heredity or environment etc). The implication is that it could happen to
anyone independent of how healthy habits one has or in how good an environment one
lives or how good are the genes they inherited. It is not necessarily due to anything that they
did or did not do.

Well everyone the news is not good from specialist. I have stage 4 cancer because of being in two areas, 2cm in pancreas and all of the liver. It is not curable. So I will be taking a biopsy in the next few days to analysis the cancer and then start treatment at the Victoria Cancer Clinic. Prognosis not great but I think most of you can get an idea that I do not give it. Even though I live on Vancouver Island I am Boston Strong! I have amazing support from the area I live in and many parts of the world and from all of you too, who I have great chats with. I will have to cancel my trip to my beloved tournament in Eastbourne, because of pending treatments. I thank all of you for your support and will still pop in add a Rubydo comment on some tournaments I will be watching. One thing for sure, I can spend more time watching tennis on the computer now! Be assured I will not lose my sense of humour!
