Sherlock has been back for two episodes, anyone else watching?

I've kind of taking a turn against it's smarty pants self-knowingness, the lack of any great tension and the ridiculousness of the crimes. Without giving anything away, it's gotten hugely silly. I dunno if I'm watching Doctor Who, there's so many OTT mannerisms on display. They've drawn the characters too unsubtly so that Holmes is a freakish supernatural being who draws ludicrous deductions from his hat. The force of personality is at play here, at great expense to the plots, which are hokey and filled with holes.

The performances, however, are still masterly, but they're turning Holmes into a light revue parody of himself. It's been entertaining but not very revealing of anything much - and none too dramatic either..

Anyone watch the Showtime comedies in the Winter? Shameless is the best of the lot IMO. It is in its 4th season and is based off of what was a popular British show. The premise is a large trashy family of siblings that have to fend for themselves. They have done a really good job of keeping it interesting and have really advanced things going into this year.

Californication used to be airing at this time but it has been moved to winter and it will be its seventh and final season. That show went way downhill. If you haven't seen it you can probably just be happy watching the first 4 seasons which are hilarious and had some semblance of a plot. Its return in April also happens to be when Game of Thrones starts on HBO. Needless to say Californication is kind of an afterthought!!

can anyone tell me what is going on with "Masters of Sex" on Showtime? I have missed the last few weeks and don't want to go back and watch three or four shows. The last one I saw Dr. Masters showed up at Virginia's door at the end and said something like he could not live without her.

That was the season finale. Sounds like you're all caught up ;)

I'd probably watch just for Emmy Rossum alone but it truly is a great show; hilarious and has substance.

Let's see, what shows do I watch?

Homeland, Walking Dead, Arrow, Masters of Sex, House of Cards, Veep, HIMYM, TBBT, Parks & Recreation, Californication, Brooklyn 99, Game of Thrones, Originals, Vampire Diaries, Luther, Elementary, POI, White Collar and Suits.

A little behind on quite a few of them, as you might imagine.

Enjoyed Masters of Sex, its different. Arrow has been good this season, surprisingly so. I was almost done at the end of S1 when I felt it was targeting only teenage girls. Elementary is fantastic this season. Originals has some great episodes, some lame ones.

Homeland and Vampire Diaries have sucked this season. HIMYM and Walking Dead have been disappointing. POI, White Collar and Suits are still good, but have lost some spark. House of Cards started off well, but Kevin Spacey started to annoy me towards the end. I'm not sure about season 2.

Also looking forward to Hannibal in the spring, love that show. And then, 24!

I can't wait for 24 either. Chances are it will be stupid yet highly entertaining. It will be 12 episodes and there is some hope they will have another 12 episode season after it.

The missus watches that, me dear! Loves it, and I have to hush a bit when it's on. I don't see the attraction myself. There were a lot of complaints in the newspapers about a rape scene. People don't watch Downton Abbey to be disturbed by dramatic tension, was the gist of them. I usually like period dramas but I can't quite get to grips with that one...

One of the problems with 24 was the women were either psychopaths or needy clingy types. Hopefully they don't have as much time for this given its only 12 episodes. But I saw Kim Raver (Audrey) is coming back, so I'm not hopeful.

I hear its being shot in London, which will be nice if they use the scenery well.

Will be great to see Kiefer back on the screen. I endured the first season of Touch for him, but was not able to do the second.

Did you watch the miniseries "The Confession"? Intense stuff but I really enjoyed it and the twist at the end. Some phenomenal acting.

Yes I didn't like Audrey at all, chances are I'm not going to enjoy how she gets involved in this. I never watched "Touch" or "The Confession". I have to admit that I became spoiled by the shows on premier channels such as HBO, Showtime and Starz. Then of course AMC had Breaking Bad. 24 is one of the few shows on network TV that I find remotely as good. I keep hearing good things about Justified on FX so that might change soon.

Just finished the old series of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, starring Alec Guinness. Great show, incredibly slow moving with most of the plot driven by dialogue about action that happened rather than the action itself, but still le Carre is a master storyteller when it comes to this espionage stuff. Great to see Alec Guinness is action, he really gets the role spot on. Nondescript, calm, observant, he would be the last person you think is a spy - and yet you know that this what spies look like. They blend in with the wallpaper.

Great cast to this one too. I have the discs for Smiley's People, the sequel, but they'll have to wait until after Oz...

It is tough not to read the rest of book 3, I got up to where the show left off. There is only 40% or about 400 pages of the book left and I hear from those who've read it that tons and tons of stuff happens.

I am a sucker for mystery shows . I loved Sherlock holmes and watched that . Waiting for BBC Sherlock season 3 . Other shows I watch are Psych , Person of Interest and Elementary . POI is my favourate show right now , season 1 was magnificant

I am a fan of POI too. Also Bones, Castle, Elementary, NCIS, and

The Mentalist. Basically all the same Genre.

The New show coming in the next couple of weeks called

" Almost Human " sounds like it will be interesting.

I also read that there will be another NCIS spin-off based

in New Orleans. Speaking of NCIS I heard another female

agent named Bishop will take Cote De Pablo's ( Ziva ) place.

They tried out Borin the Coast Guard chick last week and

I guess the ratings weren't high enough.

Just heard the Scott Bakula has been tagged to star in

new NCIS New Orleans spin-off

Wow I follow all of those shows:) I love all those shows . POI did a stunning move last night which I definately did not see coming. I dont know how the show will be now

I am just waiting for Mentalist to finally reveal who Red John is on Sunday. That will be the end to that mystery which has been torturing me for 4 years. I just hope the reveal is good

Elementary is becoming one of my favourates, the writing in this season is fantastic. One of the best shows right now

Right! If POI kills off Det. Carter it will definately hurt the show for me.

I thought for sure it would be Fusco that would be killed off

and I had been waiting for John and Jos or Shaw to get together.

Carter was one of my fav characters.

And they are making it like Bertram was Red John on the Mentalist but

Jane had talked to Red John in the past and the voice doesn't match

I guess we'll finally see tonite, If football doesn't get in the way.

And yes I love Elementary also. I wonder why they did not incorporate

Martial arts into the Watson character. I think it would have been

great and Lucy Liu has an extensive Martial arts background like

Kill Bill, Charlie's Angels and the Chinese Kung-Fu movies she was in

She practices kali-eskrima-silat, A martial Art involving sticks and knives

which they briefly touched on in Elementary but never followed up on.

okay they revealed Red John and I kind off felt disappointed with the episode. I now hope to see how the shows goes now since there is no Red John. It was like they picked a random name from season 1 and put him as Red John. It turned out to be the Sheriff

Carter was my favourate show and am looking to forward to bad ass Reese again in the next episode. He looks to kill form the preview . And this means more Fusco which isnt that bad seeing as he is one of my favourate characters from the show

I think Elementary is fine as it is. Making Watson intelligant was a big step consider how dumb watson is in the books

Just read an article that said the Mentalist may be on

the chopping block as ratings are dipping. Maybe they

should have kept the Red John thing going.

Too lazy to see if it's been discussed earlier, but does anyone here watch Suits? I gave it a try the other day and ended up watching all 2 and a half seasons within a few days. Really enjoyable show. It has its flaws and its cliches, and at times, some lazy writing, but it's one of those shows that never irritates you. It's funny and charming. Tough to explain, but if time goes by quickly as you're watching. I liked it a lot. It's a "dromedy," in many ways. Definitely not as "heavy" some of my favorite TV series (Breaking Bad, GOT, Dexter) and I obviously wouldn't out it in their category, but it's still really fun.
