I like that show, excellent cast and I never noticed the third series being too bad, but then I'm sketchy on the details...

The third series wasn't really bad(the only thing that was bad in this was Kalinda's husband storyline:nono) but the remaining four are just too good especially the current season. This show has the best guest stars on TV( love every episode that carrie preston is in).
This and Game of Thrones are my favourite shows on TV right now. They both have the perfect casting for every character.

Yeah, Kalinda's husband was a plot twist that didn't fit anything before. She's still a little minx though! I think season 4 ended here, and I agree about the guest stars. I mean, Johnny Sack, from The Sopranos, playing a judge? Great casting!

Any love here for Inspector Montalbano, Italian detective series set in Sicily? It's not cool, and edgy and any of that stuff, but I love it!

Is anyone watching the new season of Homeland? I thought they had nowhere to go given the way the previous season ended, but the writers have cleverly moved everything along.

Brother, I'm gone big time against that show. It was terrific in season one, then they began to make stuff up on the spot, it seems, like Lost did. I think the new season is strange, to say the least. I mean, Carrie and Saul colluded in that plot to have her sent to a psychiatric ward so she could infiltrate the Iranians and...it just seemed made-up on the spot.

When she went to his house and said, "they fell for it, Saul", me and the missus looked at each other and said, well, they might have, but we didn't! :nono

I still watch it, but hasn't it become even more far-fetched as it goes along?

Apparently I'm not as clever as anyone I know who has been watching: you, your wife, and my partner (aka Twilazon) all saw this coming, and I didn't. :puzzled  Like the Iranians, I fell for it.

It is far-fetched, but I enjoy it anyway. I think Claire Danes is an excellent actress, which helps enormously. Damian Lewis is good, too, and I've even grown to appreciate Mandy Patinkin, which I never thought would happen.

True about the acting. It's all top notch and still enjoyable, just less credible than series one, which was immense.

And of course, Mrs Brody. What would the show be without Mrs Brody... :smooch

I am a sucker for mystery shows . I loved Sherlock holmes and watched that . Waiting for BBC Sherlock season 3 . Other shows I watch are Psych , Person of Interest and Elementary . POI is my favourate show right now , season 1 was magnificant

I am a fan of POI too. Also Bones, Castle, Elementary, NCIS, and

The Mentalist. Basically all the same Genre.

Wow I follow all of those shows:) I love all those shows . POI did a stunning move last night which I definately did not see coming. I dont know how the show will be now

I am just waiting for Mentalist to finally reveal who Red John is on Sunday. That will be the end to that mystery which has been torturing me for 4 years. I just hope the reveal is good

Elementary is becoming one of my favourates, the writing in this season is fantastic. One of the best shows right now

Right! If POI kills off Det. Carter it will definately hurt the show for me.

I thought for sure it would be Fusco that would be killed off

and I had been waiting for John and Jos or Shaw to get together.

Carter was one of my fav characters.

And they are making it like Bertram was Red John on the Mentalist but

Jane had talked to Red John in the past and the voice doesn't match

I guess we'll finally see tonite, If football doesn't get in the way.

And yes I love Elementary also. I wonder why they did not incorporate

Martial arts into the Watson character. I think it would have been

great and Lucy Liu has an extensive Martial arts background like

Kill Bill, Charlie's Angels and the Chinese Kung-Fu movies she was in

She practices kali-eskrima-silat, A martial Art involving sticks and knives

which they briefly touched on in Elementary but never followed up on.

I've only seen two episodes of that (at my mum's place) but thought it was very good. Some fine scenery. Of the two-legged female Italian kind :devil I saw that episode a few weekends ago where the tasty bird working in the bank got shot! Ah man. She was unreal.

okay they revealed Red John and I kind off felt disappointed with the episode. I now hope to see how the shows goes now since there is no Red John. It was like they picked a random name from season 1 and put him as Red John. It turned out to be the Sheriff

Carter was my favourate show and am looking to forward to bad ass Reese again in the next episode. He looks to kill form the preview . And this means more Fusco which isnt that bad seeing as he is one of my favourate characters from the show

I think Elementary is fine as it is. Making Watson intelligant was a big step consider how dumb watson is in the books

Ah, Watson's not dumb in the books! He's quite sharp, but obviously he's also a plot device to show how clever Sherlock is, but he's not as dumb as the loveable but silly Nigel Bruce version in the 40's, with Basil Rathbone as Holmes.

I haven't seen Elementary but I like the modern day BBC reboot with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman...

Anybody see the finale to season four of Boardwalk Empire? I shan't spoil it for anyone who TVOd it, but it was a game-changer. Season five will start off as a whirlwind.

I haven't even seen the first episode of it, Shawn, and I love Scorsese and Steve Buscemi. I'll get around to it eventually, but it's on satellite TV and I only have terrestrial packages.... :puzzled

Oh, brother Kieran, you must set aside some time (when not writing the next great Irish masterpiece!) and take a gander at this marvelous series. It is a sublime portrait of a unique, likely never to be repeated, epoch in the history of my country, which rippled throughout the world when it all came crashing down in 1929 and the next depressing decade.

Watson is dumb as in he will always be a step behind Sherlock and will never come to a conclusion before him. In the books he was the one who introduced us the plots to us so that we readers will also go on the wrong track

I also prefer the BBC version which is excellant but 3 episodes every 2 years is just torture considering the cliff hanger they left us at at the end of season 2 . I want to know how Sherlock survived at the end of the season

No, he's not dumb, he's quite clever - but he's no Sherlock, which is the point of the stories, really.

Watson is the Ordinary Man, and Holmes is the Superman...

Over here in the states.. The Black List and Scandal are the best non-cable shows that are currently playing... These days their is alot of former big screen stars like Kerry Washington and James Spader are tremendous in both leading roles.

But in this show , Watson notices stuff that Sherlock misses and most which rate to emotion of a character which Holmes definately does not understand

But quite curios , what was your favourate Holmes mystey ? Mine was the red headed league .

Then that means they've given Watson a fuller role in Elementary. I think in the books, watson is more empathetic too, but he's used better as a representation of Everyman to be a device which shows Sherlock's uniqueness.

I don't have a favorite story, but I like the Red-Headed League too, and also I love the four novels, and curious tales like The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle and The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton. The Five Orange Pips. Holmes stories were very varied, weren't they? Not just pot-boilers like Poirot, where ten people know the deceased and they all congregate in the library at the end for Hercule's sermon on how he caught the killer, red herrings littering the floor like confetti.

My favourite TV Holmes is Jeremy Brett. I think that man was just immense in the role. You could read the books while watching Jeremy Brett and his excellent pair of Watsons, and not notice the difference...
