- Grigor will be top 10 at the end of the year
You are channeling Johnny Mac who predicted that for end of last year and it was not even close.
I like Grigor also, but you never forget how imovable the rankings are for many years by now and not only at the very top.
Last year we have had only one single entry and exit in and out of the top 10, Tipsarevic replaced by Wawrinka and that was it. No other movements for 52 weeks. And that is a lot of time.
There are slow shifts, but everything takes time these days.
I hope Grigor makes the top 15, then he will need more stamina IMO to get him further up.

Good for him by the way!
EDIT: People were questioning why he went to Sidney...between Sidney and AO he made enough points to help him get to #3. Points are points, regardless where they are achieved.

Will he stay there for long though? A ton of points to defend in the next couple of weeks.

He went to Sidney, played the final 2 days before the AO and lost in the second round...Pretty much vindicating people's apprehension regarding that questionable move.

At least he won a title, while both Andy and David failed to do in Doha and Auckland respectively. So you may think his rise is undeserved, but frankly, those in front of him gave up a chunk of points so far this season.
This was going to be expected, as I mentioned at the end of last year, when JM came very close to them by the finish line.

It's still a direct result of Murray's injury. So he had Murray getting injured, then Andy gets back, goes to the QF of a major while DP is unceremoniously dumped out of the 2nd round...and he catapults to number 3 in the world.
I understand how the rankings work. I'm not saying it's preposterous. I'm just saying the way in which it happened makes it hard to be impressed, or to seriously consider him a top 3 player (he's not, sorry).
GameSetAndMath said:Well, we are now talking about undeserved #3 in ATP.
My question is when will we reach parity with WTA and talk about undeserved #1
(remember Dinara, JJ, Wozniacki etc etc).
I guess in about 4 years when the the big 4 exits.
