My favourite holiday tunes from the '80's were holiday, celebration & where in the world?. Well, they seemed like holiday songs to me anyway. No prizes for guessing I was a Kylie fan. The 1st song I ever sung on a stage was "I should be so lucky".

January's usually a fairly quiet month - apart from the tennis - but i found myself rediscovering some eighties classics such as John Fogerty's 1985 solo album -

January is pretty busy for me. 1stly I start trying to incorporate my New Years resolutions into my life. I've been successful so far this year & they've changed my life & I feel like a totally different person for the better. 2ndly I celebrate Burns Night but in a different way than people normally do. I dress in tartan, I read Burns poems, listen to his songs played & sung by someone else obviously, I join in with the singing, (I don't like haggis or neeps) but I do eat tatties as part of my dinner, I also eat shortbread, highland toffee & Edinburgh rock if I've got some & drink Irn Bru (I don't like whisky), I eat porridge too & I say the Selkirk Grace though I'm not religious. 3rdly, it's my Sister's Birthday on Australia Day so I have to buy my Sister a present & card too. I'm even busier this year as my Sister decided to have her Birthday party on Burns Night rather than Australia Day so I've got less time to celebrate Burns night.

Talking about Burns Night & Australia Day etc. I spoke on here without sharing music so I'll put that right here.

A few songs for Burns Night Tomorrow

I normally listen to the bagpipe version of these.
A song for Australia Day on Saturday

Someone sent me this earlier. It’s funny, especially if you remember the “counting song” from Sesame Street:

A few songs sung by Australians to join Waltzing Matilda which I shared the other day. I hope you enjoy.

You're welcome. They're the pop music of my childhood. The 1st ever song I sung in public was "I should be so lucky". I remember them fondly & listen to them a lot. Poor Craig often used to be forgot under the shadow of Kylie & Jason. I haven't heard about Craig McLachlan recently but it's sad to hear his good name has been dragged through the mud the last couple of years.

he's been accused by a a few actress who appeared in musical theatre such as ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW of being groped and of inappropriate passes/harrassment. I don't believe it. Hope he will clear his name.

Thank you very much for your information. I don't believe it either & hope he will clear his name too like Cliff Richard did. Since you like Craig McLachlan I decided to share another of his songs.

Following our conversation earlier, @Murat Baslamisli I decided to share this song.

Just listen to the vocal range. It's absolutely amazing. Freddy had an excellent voice as he wasn't restricted to 1 voice like some people or 3 voice tones (sweet, mid-range & loud) like others. He could sing any of the tones in between. As a singer I remember learning how my voice worked & the importance of diaphragmatic breathing & exercise as well as looking after yourself. You can't take too much vocal exercise either or you can strain it. I always had a nice voice but I started with a sweet Hieland Ceilidh voice & ended up with a flexible 1 so I can imagine all the hard work, dedication & practice he put in to get to where he got to. I love the song-words too as he was a good song-writer which is hard for people who don't just come up with ideas for poems & songs straight off the top of their head. Natural poets are normally natural song-writers because the skills are more-or-less the same. Saying that, I find song-writing easier than writing poetry because you don't necessarily have to think about line length as you can introduce word/key/note holds or add in longer instrumentals. Instrumentals are brilliant for the singer as they give them a break. That's why singing acapella is harder.

I was talking this week about songs/singers we heard about a lot at 1 time but don't now. I think this singer only sung 1 song though. I loved it.
