Rumours are rife but I'll just wait for a bit and see what comes out officially... but regardless, a sad day - really liked the Cranberries and the other Irish groups of the time like the Corrs.

It's the best way of really finding out the truth because when things like this happens speculation is rife & everyone just judges instead of trying to find out what really happened. It was indeed. I did too. Boyzone, Westlife & Bewitched were my favourites though. Back to the sombre mood, the amount of good singers dying recently is very scary as I don't really think we've got many good singers left & no good, new singers to take their place.

I generally listen to melody songs. And, I am more into the male singers. And, there is a variety of voices and styles there. Like Armaan sounds soft and Atif sounds a bit rough and imperfect, yet sweet. Now, Bollywood mostly tends to deal with melody. So, if you're looking for rock/metal, I'll tell you that it really isn't a big part of our music culture. You can find such stuff only at the indie/band level that almost never gets commercialised. I can find umpteen Hindi rock bands here but then, no one in Bollywood produces such stuff. However, there are some listeners of these kinds of music in the metros here and there.

Recently, rap music (called desi rap too sometimes) has emerged as a parallel genre of music especially in the Punjab region. And now, it has a place for itself in Bollywood too. Also, there are many dance numbers and peppy numbers for dancing. Most of the songs in Bollywood are of that genre. Female vocalists are actually doing many kinds of stuff today. But, those don't seem to work for me. But, you could search them on youtube.
I am into modern melody myself.

At first, the kind of songs that I post could feel very different to what you hear. But, It's detailed, granular, and quite nuanced. It's to do with a spectrum of tones that involves more than the Octave itself (and includes it). We tend to permute and combine upto 12 different semitones on the Hindustani scale on different kinds of beats again (notice the kinds of permutations finally possible). And, all this to help express the beautiful human heart. So, that's a lot of content to tickle, and ofcourse entertain your right brain. :)

Enjoy :)
man, this is no help.... i know about eastern scales, i have all of them in my guitar pro software and in my music theory books.... and even if i didn't i could have googled this stuff....

What i need is something like:

This is female vocalist A, this is her mug and this is her voice - embedded video

She sound a lot differently from female vocalist B who looks and sounds like this - embedded video

and this is female vocalist C who looks like this and sound differently from either A or B

Yeah, music is quite a hobby and passion.

My friends say I got a nice voice hope we can share music someday. :)
What about recording and posting it for us here? :p

come on, let's get life going here :p

Equine Ann said she sounds like Celine Dion but she hasn't posted anything for us either.....

I thought I'd share this for Burns Night. In Scotland "Auld Lang Syne" is not only sung on New Years Eve, Burns Night & at Edinburgh Tattoo but is also sung when people have had an argument to patch things up.

Slainte Mhath! = Cheers/Good Health

Another song based on a poem by Robert/Robbie/Rabbie Burns the ploughboy poet whose Birthday would have been today.

I took my Sister out for a meal for her Birthday yesterday & we saw a Tina Turner tribute act. She was brilliant. If I wanted to play song-word games I could say she was "simply the best. Better than all the rest". It just reminded me of some of her best songs.

This tune is still awesome... these two are far better together even though they seem to have a common dislike for one another.

It's brilliant but I have a problem with silence unless I'm in an exam, at bingo, in a cinema, doing certain jobs, people have asked me certain questions & I haven't come up with an answer for them yet or said I had no idea or in a library. Lol. Seriously though I prefer their bridge over troubled water. I agree they're better together. Thank you very much for sharing.
