General, I hope you are feeling better and out of ICU.
From what Rafa said in his press conf. it sounds like a fairly serious injury to the left wrist.
He said if he played with it anymore he could break it.
But yet, they don't seem to think it needs surgery, so that's good I guess.
This injury could put him out of Wimbledon and sadly, the Olympics again.
I think he is the appointed flag bearer.
He said he has a couple more years at RG left.
First he has to get healthy again, and then he has a lot of work if he wants that.
It's going to be tough for sure.

He's probably going straight to Mallorca and open his new Tennis Academy and be involved with that the next few months as he recuperates.

Respectfully,

I am out of ICU but still in the hospital.

I was overly optimistic and dreaming a bit for Rafa but 2 matches is really all he is good for at slams. And even less if you extrapolate from the trends.

One way or another 1-2 matches is all he can do. Simply does not have the fitness and physicality.

We actually knew this was a more probable scenario: an injury would put him on the sidelines and it did.

He can't make it at this level without the supreme fitness. Hence the injuries in 7 out of last 8 years.

Other things in life are more important to him.

I'm glad that you are out of ICU and I hope you'll be at home soon
The wrist issue is no due to the fitness and physically, it's just bad luck and I don't think it's so serious because if you read my comment on RG,Paris,France he has followed his Doctor advise before the problem could become worse (like Delpo). He needs immobilization and a treatment and he will

I don't know how many more injuries Rafa can take general. Each one could be the last from now on.

Someone said it is clay or the exit for Nadal.

Uncle Toni just said that it's time for the #NextGen players to take over and implied that Federer's and Nadal's days have passed.

"After many years without change, I think the Next Generation of players are truly the next challengers," Nadal told ATPWorldTour.com at Roland Garros. "There are a few players with great potential and we have to see how they develop.

"It's clear that Zverev, at only 19, could be one of the best," continued the man who steered his nephew to nine Roland Garros crowns. "Kyrgios is a player I think is going to win a Grand Slam. Coric is a good player. Then there are other [non #NextGen] players like Thiem, and also Goffin.

"I know that Raonic and Nishikori are not part of the Next Generation, because they are older, but they are all part of a necessary change in the Top 10. It could be that we might see some new names in the Top 8 at the end of the year."

Djokovic and Murray might stick around a little longer to be the transitional competition for the #NextGen players.
But they have started families, and it could be their motivation will decline sooner than many people think.

The ATP clearly needs new blood and new exciting rivalries quickly.
The older ones are well past their expiration date and those in charge of tennis revenue and marketing can't afford stagnation.

So the writing is on the wall and has been on the wall for quite sometime.

Nothing is going to happen at Wimbledon either. If he shows up it is 1-2 matches at best and he risks more injuries.

Translation: he is now likely to skip Wimbledon.

You can also forget about the U. S. Open.

Nothing can be accomplished without the sacrifices needed in the training room and on the fitness front.

Don't know yet what is going to happen with Roger but Rafa is definitely done.

He is not really interested in going after the big titles anyway.

If he was interested, he would have skipped going to Miami.

He would have skipped his vacation before Indian Wells.

He would have taken in 2 additional small clay events.

And finally there is simply zero evidence of any serious commitment to the training room and also dedication needed on the fitness front.

Rafa has coughed up so many opportunities.

He could have racked up 12 RG crowns.

Rafa is the only one who could have done this and also stopped Djokovic from collecting slams like stamps.

Djokovic can play with 1 hand tied behind his back while dragging behind him a large farm animal and still make it to one final after another.

he really has no competition.

Andy has a chance to carve out his own immortality if he can slow down Djokovic.

Andy's stock on clay is rising. He just can't afford any more 5 setters.

Rafa is out of queens.

Safe to say that he is out of Wimbledon as well.

So much for 2016.

It is over and out for 2016.

Now all he is left with is a very small window on clay in 2017.

I would target that window.

I am out of hospital on Tuesday. So just a few days to go now.

Can't wait to resume life on the beach.

Thank god I am alive. I fell 10 feet on my back. Could have broken my spine.

I broke all the ribs and some in several places.

So many things could have gone wrong. Lungs sustained contusions but no serious injury.

I escaped surgery.

I am blessed by the gods.

I'd love if Rafa would skip Wimbledon and the OG (he has already the golden medal) having enough care and time to heal the wrist and to be ready for the USO

3 straight semifinal appearances for The great dunblane warrior.

I say he strikes gold this time.

He has managed to turn the tables on Djokovic.

Still he will need a little bit of help from Djokovic to achieve his quest for ultimate glory on clay.

Djokovic would have to be a bit off in the early going so Andy can snatch the first 2 sets. That may be enough.

I've alwaysI heard that the mind has more power than the game and clearly is true. Muzz has game to beat anyone but unfortunately not strong mind which Novak has (confidence) plenty

Skipping Wimbledon seems likely, at this point. If his wrist is in good shape, I'm ok if he goes...he's unlikely to go deep. Sentimentally, I think he's going to feel a huge pull to go to the Olympics. He was going to be the flag-bearer for Spain in London, and had to give it up. He's set to do that in Rio, and I suspect he would be loathe to give up the chance again. It seems like those who go deep in Rio will skip Cincy, so either one is the 2nd tune-up to the USO.

Yep, unfortunately it seems a Deja Vu (2012) but I hope that he will give enough time to the wrist to have a good recovery even if he couldn't go to Brazil and then to be completely fitted to play the next HC season though you never know about his plans, he is very stubborn and maybe he will decide to play earlier than we think but like you have said well, if his wrist is in good conditions I'm ok too.
Anyway I don't see him playing in Wimbledon, we'll see what will be his next step, crossing fingers hoping that he will do the best decision

I was saved by the gods.

I fell 10 feet on the side of my back.

I would have been paralyzed forever had I fallen any other way.

I broke all the ribs on the left side.

Yikes! What a blessing that you're still with us. Hope your recovery is swift (as can be).
