Maybe he can rebound in Rio, but of course he has to up the ante.

No work ethic equals no titles.

Even with a work ethic CD, he's also slower these days. He's has to find a way to compensate for the lost foot speed, one that he's comfortable with.

He also used to be the alpha dog when it came to playing the big points. That's not been the case recently, especially not in the tiebreaker today.

It all has to start with fitness. And a lot of physical work in the gym.

And he has to embrace clay. Nothing short of 2 practice sessions a day on clay will do.

6-7 hours a day of practice on clay will help him recover his ground game.

But we are just wasting our words.

He really does not care to win otherwise he would do something about it.

Nobody on the planet can help him at this point.

Maybe now people will start paying a little closer attention to what we have to say here and at Camelot.

This is not rocket science anyway.

About playing the big points, I was thinking the same thing as well today. In the 3rd set, after Rafa broke Thiem back I thought that he had him, had a match point. But the tiebreaker was really bad for Rafa, and it didn't look like he was as tired as he looked timid. He started off the TB with a double fault and then in the blink of an eye the points piled up for Dom that Rafa couldn't catch up.

Yes, timid. When was Nadal ever timid in the critical moments the way he was today. Any player (or his coach), that sees that will be encouraged to press during the big points. He has to turn things around or he may not even be at #5 by the end of the year.

being in the top 5, top 10, or even top 20 means absolutely nothing if you are not able to win a single title.

and even if you do win, you are struggling to win some chicken shit 250 level title.

the decline continues. he wont put in the work required to win at this level.

this is why I said last year that even a Rio title will be difficult. we all knew he was going lose Buenos Aires. 1-2 matches was all he was going to get.

he simply doesn't have the fitness and the ground game. and hence the lack of confidence.

why are players nearly 10 years older more fit and winning more matches and more titles than Rafa?

how could an all time great and the greatest of all time on clay cant even win more than a match or two even on clay against players that will never amount to anything?

Rafa can win if he wants to but he simply doesn't want to put in the work and sacrifice required anymore.

I have said this before: unless I see dramatic changes in fitness and physicality, he will win nearly nothing in 2016.

Rio and Hamburg titles will be more difficult this year.

it is over folks. it ended long ago actually but none of us really wanted to believe it. even I still hold out just a tiny bit of hope for 2017 but that only pans out if he completely dedicates himself to the sport for the next 9-12 months. and you and I both know that probability of that happening is near zero.

now what will the historians conclude about Rafa? what will they say exactly?

will they say that it was a career similar to Borg's career? will they say that Rafa could have achieved more glory?

or will they say that Rafa simply spent too much mental and physical capital in achieving all that he did and that he now has nothing left to give.

and what will you--the fan--say and conclude about Rafa's career?

As a fan, I'd say let's wait until it's really over. Obituaries are for the actually dead.

Who said you are a fan?

You are into blind worshipping.

Cary on with your blind worship. It is good for a laugh anyway.

What is happening this year is exactly what I said was going to happen last year.

Zero titles on clay and zero titles on other surfaces as well.

I call that as being done. What do you call it.

He can't win with these levels of fitness and this drastically deluted game.

it will take 9-12 months of extreme sacrifice for him get back to a reasonable level.

Translation: he may have a small chance in 2017 but it does not look like it is going to happen.

Welcome back chief. Good to see you back!

Thanks brother. Been on a vacation for a good long month so I figured some time away from arguing with everyone about my washed up favorite player would do some good. That means I have to take out all that built up energy out of my system though.

since October of 2014 Rafa has lost 50% of his matches that went into the 3rd set or the 5th set.

it is a physical decline that is unmistakable. that is huge for Rafa. his game is very heavily dependent on supreme fitness and physicality. he wont do a damn thing about except talk about it. now he says he has to improve physically.

general Britbox has been able to recognize this so credit where credit is due. he has added/noted that Rafa has allowed for exactly zero continuous improvement in his game for the last several years.

we at Camelot have made the same observations. he refuses to break the free fall and he refuses to make a single change of any kind.

he cant even get himself to maintain his fitness and his physical level in the gym, let alone any improvement of any kind in his game.

it is all bogus and idle talk for public consumption. and the results and the numbers don't lie if everything else is failing you. he means well but he says all that he says just for public consumption.

first of all you can just look at him. he is unfit and he has lost significant muscle mass.

secondly just look at the losses mount to nobodies if all else fails.

every match has become a physical struggle that leaves him tired and he says he is tired after each match.

more later.
