I'm going to admit to shedding a tear when I saw her press conference. She'd just got out from under the tutelage of her dad, who seemed to be an oppressive influence, and had just won Wimbledon.

Queen of the Quirky game, geek-duckling amongst so many camera-ready swans...she finds her game and then hangs it all up? I feel both stunned, and cheated.

that Wimbledon title is worth millions and millions so we know she is set.

she will be far wealthier than her dad who is a doctor. so the dad did rear her well and prepared her well for life.


I am stunned too but we have to see how it plays out. she could miss the sport quickly and make a comeback.
