Soon after the Taj Mahal's completion, Shah Jahan was deposed by his son Aurangzeb and put under house arrest at nearby Agra Fort. Upon Shah Jahan's death, Aurangzeb buried him in the mausoleum next to his wife.[36]

By the late 19th century, parts of the buildings had fallen badly into disrepair. During the time of the Indian rebellion of 1857, the Taj Mahal was defaced by British soldiers and government officials, who chiselled out precious stones and lapis lazuli from its walls. At the end of the 19th century, British viceroy Lord Curzon ordered a sweeping restoration project, which was completed in 1908.[37][38] He also commissioned the large lamp in the interior chamber, modelled after one in a Cairo mosque. During this time the garden was remodelled with British-style lawns that are still in place today.[28]

Main article: Origins and architecture of the Taj Mahal

In 1631, Shah Jahan, emperor during the Mughal empire's period of greatest prosperity, was grief-stricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their 14th child, Gauhara Begum.[13] Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632.[14] The court chronicles of Shah Jahan's grief illustrate the love story traditionally held as an inspiration for Taj Mahal.[15][16] The principal mausoleum was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later. Emperor Shah Jahan himself described the Taj in these words:[17]

Should guilty seek asylum here,
Like one pardoned, he becomes free from sin.
Should a sinner make his way to this mansion,
All his past sins are to be washed away.
The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs;
And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes.
In this world this edifice has been made;
To display thereby the creator's glory.

Hello all!

I wrote last week week about how commercialism has changed racing in F1. This time I've written about how commercialism has changed the game of tennis.

http://augustonsports.blogspot.fi/2013/08/how-commercialism-is-destroying-sports_12.html

I wanted to post that in my blog, as I has a similar text about F1 last week. But I might post my next tennis text here, on the other hand I may not have too much time for writing in next weeks.

Very good article, August. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hola!

My God, if I say I am busy that would be a serious understatement but reasons why I couldn't be here for a few days. And I am in a 3 days course starting from this Wednesday so not sure if I'll be here at all on those days. Maybe in the evening if I am not too exhausted.

Anyway, congrats to Rafa fans! The only match I saw was the Nadal/Djokovic one and only saw a few games of the final one. Raonic looked rather flat. He did have one too many competitive matches just prior so couldn't blame him for a flat performance.

As to the semi, Nole's game keeps falling apart against the big guys this year in particular. He looked nervous and tentative from the get go. Very error prone as well. I found the match a bit strange. He held his last game of the 3rd set quite convincingly but only to fall completely apart in the TB. Very on and off game all throughout the match. His errors made the match somewhat ugly.

Nadal, on the other hand, was able to execute his game quite perfectly. There was nothing to hold him back. While he was definitely the better player of the two, the total points won by the two were 97 and 95 respectively, so it basically came down to a couple of points here and there. We also need to consider the fact that, Nadal was coming off a 5 week long break, so he was without a doubt fresher of the two.

It was a good match all in all but not great. The crowd was amazing though. Kept the atmosphere really entertaining. Andy's interview during the 3rd set of the match was hilarious. He lost in the doubles final though - oh well.

princess emma general nekro wanted to rebuild the castle mystique at tennis4you. he wants the castle presence at many forums.

I told him no at least 100 times but the man is as persistent as an old war general.

so I told him to go pursue his dreams and his ideas.

I will stop by there once in a while to say hello to general nekro and betty. and also general masterclass, general slasher, and general august.

my main focus will be right here at tennis frontier.

I believe our future lies right here.

at some point t4u will completely die away. it has been nearly dead for years even now.

i am glad andy made the final in doubles.

andy`s game is efficient enough so he really can engage in both singles and doubles here and there.

i am sure he will not bother to play doubles at slams.

That was beautiful, herc. Thanks for posting it. Because it is made of love, which is all forgiving, I'd like to think a sinner's sins will be all washed away once he enters into the temple of love.
