Slasher, looks good. I think that would be really useful info for the WTA board and much appreciated by all board regulars. I think this would best be in the WTA section, maybe as a pinned post.

Developing the WTA equivalent is gonna be a lengthy process though, so you'll have to be patient. I have to 'teach' the system to read from the WTA site (it will do the rest itself as it knows how to parse stuff). But I also have to implement the rules and verify them. This young board is going to be the first to see it working, but I will try it on TennisForums after that (if they want it). No offense, but whenever something is beneficial to many, I want them to benefit.;)

No worries Slasher - in your own time, all appreciated. Do you think it would be best to set up a thread in the Castle Forum initially for you to play around with and then later move it across into the WTA?

Maybe, but not yet. I'll tell you when it will be needed. Thanks a lot.:)

Good day folks. Some info I posted in one of the other forums...

Jimmy Connors. 16 straight years in the top 10 (1973-1988), 17 in the top 20 (1973-1989).
Ivan Lendl had 13 straight years in the top 10 (1980-1992), 15 in the top 20 (1979-1993).
Pete Sampras had 12 straight years in the top 10 (1990-2001), 13 in the top 20 (1990-2002).

Andre Agassi had a total of 16 years in the top 10, but not consecutively. He fell out of the top 20 in 1993 and 1997. (1988-1992), (1994-1996), (1998-2005)

Among active players:
Roger Federer has 11 straight years (2002-2012) in the top 10 and 10 in the top 3.
Rafael Nadal has 8 straight years (2005-2012) in the top 10 and also top 4.
-----------------

And credit goes to Sir Litotes or Markus, who further put this in terms of weeks:

Jimmy Connors has the record - 788 straight weeks from (week beginning) 27/8-1973 to (week beginning) 26/9-88.
Ivan Lendl is second. His numbers are not verified, I do not know exactly when he entered, but an estimation gives him 626 weeks from 19/5-80 to 11/5-92
Pete Sampras is 3rd on 565 weeks, 10/9-90 - 2/7-01
Roger Federer is 4th, and will become 3rd very soon, currently on 562 weeks, 14/10-02 - today
Stefan Edberg is 5th on 493 weeks, 9/9-85 - 13/2-95
....
Rafael Nadal is 8th on 430 weeks.
----------

Respectfully,
masterclass

and what can we say about general masterclass. he is widely regarded as the greatest poster in the world. lets open our arms and welcome him.

I have come up with an intriguing idea for general masterclass that we need to discuss today.

is it possible for him to have his own section that he can moderate? we will call it "The Masterclass Tennis Corner". he can let it evolve in any form, shape, or fashion he sees fit or desires.

we will all help support it and get it off the ground. here people will come with their tennis questions and the like. we can even try to get a real life retired tennis pro as a guest at "the masterclass tennis corner" once in a blue moon.

it will be like a relaxed talk show with all of us helping in anyway we can. its an innovative idea whose time has come.

we are all very busy and so is general masterclass so we will just do what we can. no explosice growth is to be expected. we will just let things take their own natural course.

Thanks for the kind words and the idea General. Masterclass Tennis Corner sounds like a good idea. ;) I'll have to think about it. Thanks.

Respectfully,
masterclass

Nikki, Would you like to select a castle, a title (ie. Duchess Nikki) and state your player allegiance, and I'll add you to the the Cast of Characters on the opening post to the thread. (all a bit of fun).

Masterclass.... you need to pick a castle and state your player allegiance buddy to go on the opening post of the thread... I don't want people calling a man of the nobility a homeless hobo.

welcome to the castle princess nikki the great. you are the fairest of the fairest.

it is always an honor to be in the presence of your company.

you, lady betty, and lady ann are in a class by itself.

we need to get hold of Duncan, samono, Feldman, and ann. they will love this place.

if ever there was heaven at a tennis forum, this wonderful place is it.

here you impeccable defenses : legless, toothless, hapless, assless, clueless, lifeless, blind hate infested trolls are turned away and then hanged very quickly.

and you have astonishing levels of respect and kindness.

I am just loving the peace and quiet here. I can finally get some work done while I am relaxing here.

LOL :D I'm a world class citizen. But I'll show you one of my haunts.

And I'm not a fan of any particular player, but am a fan of great tennis, so I usually start with the legends since they played the greatest tennis for the most part.
They will be in my signature once I figure out how to do that.

you think too damn much.

you can let is evolve into direction you see fit and you dont have to damn near anything.

we will all help you get it off the ground.

one idea would be to offer your weekly commentary. and then people would just respond or even ask questions and stuff.

your place will be or can be called "The Masterclass Tennis Corner". you will control its destiny and you will make its destiny.

look if you love tennis as much as we do then this is a sensational idea. you are also the absolute master of the English language. this would be a way for you share what you have to say about tennis with the whole world.

and if you need a partner in such a venture then I recommend baron britbox. he is equally adept at the language and wisdom.

then we would have call the show something a little different:

perhaps "Masterclass & Britbox Tennis Corner"

nothing ventured, nothing gained.

and if all objections were to be overcome, nothing ever would be attempted.

and we will help and offer our own take as well.

general masterclass check your PM.

thanks.

I think his topspin backhand is heavily underrated. It is a work of art when he is really on. and he has other options with it. his slice is among the best in my opinion.

he can also flatten it out.

here his topspin backhand is displayed:

1. notice the arm is fully extended

2. intense focus on the ball

3. firm wrist

4. ball hit out in the front

5. proper weight distribution
