Anyway buddy, all ok now - I'll sort out the image resizing issue on that thread tomorrow. Pretty extensive projects you're working on - I didn't realize the extent of it all until I looked at the threads.

Thanks for the great help. The links you placed now are the links I had before, and I changed them to the current ones. The links are refreshing every time the image is changed, but they are always compatible with older versions. The versions on MTF or T4U are very old and still work fine. Those same versions didn't work here, then the new ones didn't either, then the ones (same as before) you placed there, worked. Amazingly and thankfully all is fine.

Keep watching my project. The greatest surprises are yet to come.

That castle is astonishing emperor Augustus.

It's the Olavinlinna castle in Savonlinna, Finland. My roots are very much from the Savonia region, even though norther than Savonlinna.

I have no idea what a gaffer does, but they're always on the credits.

So I googled and here's what a gaffer does:

I feel challenged to hire someone in this line of work. He/she may blow up the whole forum. It's your forum after all so think twice.

Those two links have to work. They work on MTF and T4U perfectly, there is no logical reason for them not working here.

I updated them with the most recent version too, which I also tested in my browser, yet the images are still not loaded.

I'll be probably even less popular after what i'm going to say but you know t4u is a free forum but here i feel a lot more limited than there.... haven't looked into this board too much and stuff and the last board i had was phpbb2 some years ago but everything suggests there's no bandwidth behind this board at all..... and it shows even on the forum software, maybe i'm wrong and BB coded it this way but come on, limited pm space? also had other stuff not related to that for example before i disabled users' sig i couldn't reach the reply button if people had long sigs, and i can't scroll to the right like on other boards.... ofc i could use other resolution etc.etc.... but i don't have to anywhere else.......

so maybe i'm a total noob and BB wanted everything to be like this but this place looks and feels and works like these "build a website in 2 minutes" remotely hosted boards, it's tot cool for chats and stuff, but as I told CD already i would like a board with new vBulletin and bluehost web hosting...... we can't compete with MTF (yeah, i know that's not the purpose and all) if we don't even have normal software and hosting, it would be so cheap if 3-4 of us chipped in some money....... but CD doesn't want to, when I told Betty i'm gonna do it alone she told me not to do it

It was initially put together very quickly because we had a couple of days or so to find a new home for the users on the old site and since then we've been adding and amending things in line with what people have been requesting. If something doesn't work for you let me know and I'll address it. I'm a programmer, so can change pretty much anything within reason.

There are no bandwidth constraints. Some settings might be the default ones which I can override.

vBulletin won't make a successful board - people and conversation will. It's notorious for getting hacked also. I've set up boards before on vbulletin and phpbb frameworks and choose this after careful consideration.

So, in short, if you have an issue with anything, let me know and I'll look into it.

Secondly, we're developing much more than a board on it's own. We've got a front end where we add news daily, we're recruiting bloggers and building up social media channels. It's growing quickly but there has been a lot of effort by a lot of people behind the scenes.

This board isn't going anywhere and we don't want you to either. We've got new users arriving each week, so hope you remain and become part of the growth.

bottom line: they let the castle fail there. we did not fail because we did what we said we were going to do.

nobody gave a damn about the castle. the locals went out of their damn way to make sure that they not only avoided the castle, they actually trashed it behind the scenes.


that is not going to happen here. its completely different. different players and different ball game. and somebody that really cares.


baron britbox supports the castle with all his heart and so does general tented. that is enough to build on.

and then I cant really do much without the support of folks like general nekro, general masterclass, general slasher, general ashwin, general lugburz, general august, general sid, lady emma, lady marchioness, lady moxie, lady betty, duchess dj and the like either. I know I am forgetting some names here.

we basically have a chance to rebuild the castle mystique that was mistreated, allowed to be abused, and lost at the other forum. this is a chance to add to the legend of the castle.


this forum has produced more growth in 5 months than some forums do in 13 years.

and lets not forget that the castle is just a few days old here.



as for the more gadgets for the forum and other additional exciting features, I think we should keep building one step at a time.


it is just too hard to start a forum from scratch. it requires an immense amount of time and commitment.


I believe tennis frontier is the best game in town. we need to play it and enjoy it.

growth will come if we do the right thing 100% of the time if the locals make a little bit of time to meet and greet 100% of the people that stop by.

we DO NOT GO BACK TO THE PLACES WHERE NOBODY GIVES A DAMN ABOUT US. nobody does.

we simply must make the time to say hello to every single person that stops by this forum.

castle is a good place to go and welcome that person. it takes less than 3 seconds to go and say hello to somebody. if you cant do that then maybe you don't really belong on a forum.

I mean what good are you if you don't care to interact with the others and if you don't care to grow your own forum. talk is cheap. show somebody that you care and watch the ripple effect. or being an economist, I should say watch the "multiplier effect".

chat threads is a good place to get somebody to open up a little bit. they are all looking for a place to belong to. so make it comfortable and fun for them to belong to your place.
and once they are comfortable, they spread their wings a little bit and start exploring the rest of the forum.

Oh, so you are a Brit and I was right all along. It turns out I've exchanged posts with Brits the most. I don't know what kind of coincidence is that. Anyway, are you going to be in Australia from now on or is it a temp visit?

I originally hail from Karachi, Pakistan as I was born there but I sort of grew up in Savannah, Georgia (USA) and rest in Toronto, Canada. I am a proud citizen and love my country Canada to bits and pieces.
