The last Grand Slam of the year is starting today!!!

Aloha everyone.
Hi :D read about your trip:cool: won any drinking contests? :p

One of my Croatian friends didn't want to have a drinking contest with me because he was afraid (and knew he had to drive me back to my place afterwards). :laydownlaughing Maybe next time.

Hey CD!!! Long time no see indeed. I'm too lazy to read back in the thread. Whenever I start, something comes up and I close the browser window again.

I'm still coughing, got back from the doctor. The cough seems to be allergic but looks like I have another tonsilitis. :( I'm really considering having my tonsils taken out although they say there can be a lot of complications during and after the surgery.

que pasa princess nikki.

just be careful. don't let it linger on.

you may have to go get some antibiotics. hope you feel better fast.

As long as my doctor doesn't give me antibiotics, I'm quite happy that I don't need to take any. The medication she gave me seems to work for now. I will go back there on Friday though because she seemed quite clueless about whether I have a tonsilitis or something else. I don't really have a sore throat or anything, nothing is hurting and I'm full of energy. :-/

I visited many lovely places but I lost my heart in Mostar. If I wanted to make a signature picture of my trip, it would be only of Mostar pictures.

Duncan should really come here. I don't see him post on MTF that often but that is maybe because we all abandoned him, hahaha.

somebody needs to go get Duncan princess nikki.

so he can enjoy the u.s. open with us here.

also he and javi are long time friends. they are both from the same country.

there is no question Duncan will like this place.

Croatia is a fun place, i spent some weeks there almost every summer as a teenager, mostly in Rabac, it has rocky beach but it's cool cause the water stays clear even in bad weather, at least compared to sandy beaches :D

Imo keep your tonsils even if they cause some trouble from time to time, they make your immune system stronger:D

lol Lady Emma on fire :p

Croatia is great. They really have some nice beaches although I'm still more into sandy beaches despite of the sand flea bites I got in Spain last year.

This year I finally managed to see a bit more of the Croatian coast after spending my time mostly in Zagreb and Istria. I have only been to one Croatian island so far, Krk. Hoping to visit more in the future. Unfortunately my round-trip didn't allow me to spend much time in one location.

yes very nice rock beaches on croatia:D

They have sandy ones too but they are not that nice.

Actually in Montenegro I hated the sandy beaches. After a few hours I had sand everywhere and couldn't get it off even after jumping in the water a few times.

does this look familiar princess nikki?

Most amazing place in Europe for me. Simply amazing. A bit farther away from the touristy places you can still see lots of destruction from the war which I found rather sad and sometimes also a bit creepy (there is a building which used to be a bank until the war. Then it turned into the famous "sniper tower" which is why tourists still visit its ruin. I didn't go there because I was with a friend who had lost many of his school friends during the way and he cried more than once when we drove through streets with damaged buildings and he told me about his experience.

I went there earlier this year. It's great. Reminds me a bit of Rome.

I couldn't post the pics earlier because they didn't show up at work.

We went to this place near Mostar too which seems just so surreal and is incredibly beautiful:

It is the source of river Buna. My friend took me there at night to celebrate my birthday (they have a nice restaurant there and the nearby river made the heat a little more bearable) and even then I found it so beautiful although I couldn't see much.

When you go inside the little house near the grotto, you can go down to some kind of terrace which makes you stand really close to the source.

There are waterfalls everywhere too where you can go swimming in summer.

I just went inside river Neretva. I couldn't let the water get higher than to my thighs, though, because it was so horribly cold despite of the heat. I thought it would get a heart attack.

Apparently Bosnians drink a lot too. I assume it is a Balkan tradition.
The owner of the hostel where I was staying suggested a vodka shot - rakija shot - vodka shot - rakija shot drinking contest for my next stay. I assume I will give it a try.

Indeed.

The next time I go, I wanna visit this city. It looks like from a fantasy movie with the waterfall.

Hahaha yes, everybody drinks a lot in this region:p that contest sounds radical:cool::laydownlaughing

That reminded me of the Thirsty Traveler series when the poor mofo ran into a huge swede who drank him under the table, he looked so sick....... He mostly drinks with people twice as heavy as him so he looks sick during the whole series:laydownlaughing
