What in the world is going on with roger?

Anybody saw this match?

Unfortunately, I didn't see it, but I am curious. Maybe someone will post it on YouTube.

he has to be hampered by a bad back general.

he has too much game still to be losing like this. he won a slam in 2012.

General Hercules, this is pretty much it. He hasn't made a big deal about it and used it as an excuse, but admitted recently that his back has been hurting him and has been trying to play his way out of it. He said he almost withdrew in Gstaad, but his home crowd welcomed him so wonderfully, he felt good enough to try to play.

Not to mention he is still trying to adjust with the new racquet and he has been trying different combinations of weights/strings to get the proper balance.

But the back is probably what is holding him back the most, and it has especially affected his serve, and ability to hit ground shots with consistent power, especially to the forehand side. He has only been averaging 180 km (112mph) or less on first serve, which is close to 20 km slower than his normal pace and about 145 km ( 90mph) on second serve which is also well below average. Add to this a lack of confidence from these factors and a return that is sub-par, and it's quite enough to cause him problems at this level.

He's hopeful that the summer heat in the Americas will help him on the hard courts. But if it continues to bother him, I don't give him much chance there since the serve is even more important on hard than clay.

It is what it is. Others have suffered from back problems and it has led to earlier retirement. Federer has eventually managed these problems in the past (since 2002), but it probably is more difficult now as he turns 32 in 13 days.

Respectfully,
masterclass

Great castle, Lord Wedgie.

Thanks T!

It cost a small fortune because I chucked my favourite spear after the previous occupant, Lady Ohmmmmm of Tibet, Novak's spiritual guru. That spear was named The Barber Pole. And not only because I used to shave with it.

But we're happy with the new gaff. It's roomy and airy and the missus can flatulate as merrily as she please and blame a slave or donkey. Quids in all round!

Hi Slasher,

For now, during the time you're working on it, I'm going to open a new thread within this forum. I'll add a message telling others not to post anything.

After you've got it going, and things are working, then we can move it somewhere else, such as a thread which would always be pinned to the top of the WTA Forum.

Please let me know if you need anything else, or just send me a PM.

EDIT:

Here's a link to your thread:

http://www.tennisfrontier.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=632

Thanks for the great help. I'm going to use it as a development status thread. For now and who knows until when, there's actually nothing to show off. But there will come a time.

It's a long way. I must have it work on correct calculations for any WTA player given the points they gained in the last 52 weeks. The rules must not be missed, and I can say for sure that I identify the rules as more complex than the ATP, so please be patient.

I'm gonna need more help than it looks, and I need WTA experts to help me.:D

Weird forum you guys have here.:D

The images get shrunk when I post them, and I cannot post 4 consecutive images. The quality of the live rankings being displayed here suffers.:s

good too see you general masterclass.

back issues are tough. no way to play your best tennis with a bad back.

I knew something was wrong. he has too much game to be losing like this.

what this tells us is that he loves the game and wants to compete for many years to come.

there is somebody at tennis4you who has an image of game of thrones in her sig.

we should try to contact her and tell her about this forum.

she is a cool lady. I have not had a chance to talk to her much.

I think she will like it here. no harm in having a few extra friends.

post away and enjoy the forum sports fans.

the castle itself is more than a chat thread. you can talk tennis here or anything else you please.

think of it as your very own playground. just do what comes naturally and whatever comes to mind.

the idea is to just have fun and to make sure that everybody is enjoying themselves.

just make somebody`s day today and make them laugh/smile in the process.

Not finding enough time to post. Bah. I haven't even got a chance to look around the forum especially the ATP section. Don't care for WTA.

Anyway, re: Federer and Masterclass' post - if these losses happen on a more consistent basis, then we can surely deduct that he might be now declining in a rapid speed. Even though MC said that Federer is not using his back problem as an excuse but it does feel like an excuse - merely because it is more talked about after a loss especially by fans.

As to the new change of racquet, well, he has lost to both Tsonga (in straight sets at RG might as well add) and Stakhovsky (in four sets and in the 2nd round at Wimbledon where Federer must taking things most seriously) before the change (the loss to Stakhovsky in the 2nd round is particularly shocking and worth noting), so I am not sure how a legitimate case that is either.

Perhaps we'll be able to tell much more at year end. He tends to do slightly better towards the end so let's see but his danger will now continue to lie in early rounds in any tournament as well, where he used to be safe all this time. I was a big Sampras fan all my life, so for me, it will be interesting to see how both Federer and his fans cope with these losses and his eventual ultimate decline which will lead to retirement. For me, it was very hard and there was a time when it literally felt as if there was no tennis life after Sampras...until of course Murray came along and took me to the same ride I was on only a few years ago.

Emma the Princess is out for now. :)

Oh and Hi Siddy!

smoking hot here general tented.

humidity makes it worse.

we probably hit 97 degrees F here again today.

I am not really complaining as I can handle the heat the humidity. I grew up in new Orleans.

i see our neighboring forum is dead in the water.

some of those folks will probably start to make their way here if they wish to interact with smart, respectable, and informed people about tennis or any other sport here.

why linger around there when there is absolutely nobody there to interact with.

absolutely no harm in expanding one`s horizons and to have a few extra friends.

TBH I'm giving up on people on tennis forums in general...... unreal that lunatic Alex is still not banned from t4u, when he's obviously keeping people off the board, his presence basically banned all self-respecting women from the board.... he's still trolling all sections of the forum, slasher warned him not to troll his rankings section and he's still doing it, and he's not banning him.... any sane person would have permabanned him long ago..... come on, racist rants for days, fake cancer threads in the tennis section, etc. etc. he basically hijacked that whole forum and those sheep don't do anything about it.....

also Freak3yman84, he's the most disgusting person i've ever seen on any internet board, he was welcomed with open arms on t4u when he was banned from mtf now that he wormed his way back to MTF he went to t4u to troll, he renamed to "T4U is dead" and just logs in to troll, his presence is an insult to the board owner and an attack on the integrity of the board, he should be named back to Freak3yman84 and kicked off the board forever..... I simply can't understand how these people are still not banned......

sorry for the seemingly off-topic rant but i spent some nice days on that board and I now feel like puking all the time when i think about it, I will simply stop checking.... the mods there have defective intelligence for sure......

good too see you general nekro. you are 100% spot on general. right as usual on all accounts.

it is just madness mate. they let shanks go on his savage rage for 6 days and then they let alex go nuts for a week. and then he gets a 3 day ban but he can still keep posting.

well it took a while but at last we really are at the cleanest and most civil forum here at tennis frontier.

baron britbox is a long time friend of mine and I suspect that we will remain friends for the next 50 years. I have complete confidence in him. he does not do anything 1/2 ass. he is going to make damn sure that the castle is kept from any and all attacks. he runs a clean place and he runs a tight ship.

of all the people I have ever known general nekro, I believe that you proved to be the kindest. you have forever stood right by my side. I am never going to forget your kindness.

masterclass, slasher, and baron britbox are also very high quality folks. they have very few equals in terms of intelligence and also in terms of doing the right thing. they have made a profession out of doing the right thing. now emma, betty, and nikki are here also but I understand that they are very busy. these 3 ladies are also among the best of the best. I have nothing but respect for them.

well we always sort of did know that we had a problem at tennis4you. babbs and monster continue to attack and insult people there for the last 7 years. they ran off all their quality posters.

and now alex, fed fan, and shanks did the rest of the damage. nobody wants to post with these people.

people there just do not have the balls to stand up to these lunatics. and scott is friends with babbs and monster. so its a big mess. dallas is completely gutless. she has no courage at all.

general nekro we got that blundering moron--freaky--a mod position there and he would still bite the hands that fed him. he actually sided with shanks when shanks was on his blind rage for 6 days. he joined shanks in attacking me. that is how sick he is.

it took us 3 months to get Feldman and some of his friends there and shanks ran them all off in a week. freaky ran off lurker and few others at the castle.

lurker told me that she was sick of him.

anyway that is how it works with some people. you help them and they turn around and try to stab you in the back. swish was no angel either. he played both sides of the fence. he also continued to attack me.

he was another one who sided with shanks.

at any rate its over now. now we will embark on a new journey and look forward to all the wonderful possibilities that await us.

lets drink to the new beginnings and a new quest mate.

cheers.

I am going to grab some sleep. see you all tomorrow.

take care general nekro. see you soon.

post away and enjoy the forum folks. just make yourself at home and have fun.

you're right..... I "loved" swish's subtle blackmail attempt to call cracky back to the forum, well, imo cracky's little soul was tot broken when his "The Magician" id was permabanned from MTF and he lost his "shine" long ago anyway.....

the monster/illosophical guy is tot harmless, he's the biggest coward and namechanger ever, he even denied himself when he got exposed on tennis.com....., he keeps changing his ids on the same boards all the time, but his pride in rap culture and rap slang, his flat character on tennis boards and his boring and repetitive writing style always betrays him, but i loved it, when i called him Hawaii Pete he didn't deny he's the guy in question  he's like Alex, named his thread after himself cause poor guy needs cheap ego boosts like that and keeps fabricating fake stories about his life, the guy couldn't even walk on a tennis court let alone run..... Also a huge hypocrite in every possible way, he's calling people fangirls when we all remember what he did on tennis.com, fangirling sampras 24/7 and he pretends to celebrate Alex's trolling despite the fact alex is a huge racist and he's an afro-american guy.......... All that keeps these people together is hate........

he didn't deny he was Hawaii Pete, he has 2 major characters imo, one is the stats spammer and the other is the "tough guy", but he betrays himself from time to time..... also he made remarks that he's an overweight afro guy, and he likes to use da, tha, instead of "the", imo there can't be 2 sampras maniac afro guys like that......
