I live in a big city its called Melbourne not really scared of big citys at All I love them, whats why I would love go to NYC one day at least wrong on that one, I did not know you live in NYC thats great living in a place where us open takes place every year. of course you know more than me about own city than me I dont live there like you said but I think would be better if you said most people follow the rules in NYC because theres NO way in hell that every single person you dont know going or have followed the rules, in fact we already know NYC people break the rules once in NYC thats how it got so bad in the first place that makes you think they not going to do it a second time . anyway I hope you are right and I'm wrong so people stay safe and die I also happy your stating safe as well always deep down liked you moxie.
I'm not envying your lockdown in Melbourne. Draconian to say the least.

Rafael Nadal statement on Instagram,

After many thoughts I have decided not to play this year's US Open. The situation is very complicated worldwide, the COVID-19 cases are increasing,it looks like we still don't have control of it.
We know that the reduced tennis calendar is barbaric this year after 4 months stopped with no play.I understand and thank for the efforts they are putting in to make it happen.
We have just seen the announcement of Madrid not being played this year.
All my respects to the USTA,the US Open organisers and the ATP for trying to put the event together for the players and the fans around the world through TV.
This is a decision I never wanted to take but I have decided to follow my heart this time and for the time being I rather not travel.

This is less surprising than Madrid being cancelled. It's the right thing to do, for him.

I’m curious if Djoke will play USO. If not, Medvedev could be the favorite to win this year.

He has been giving clues that he will play, including that he's been currently practicing on HCs, not clay, and he also ordered balls from the USO to practice with. Also, this on was posted on the USOpen website on Tues. Note that it says he's on the "initial" entry list, so anything could change.

It's hard to imagine he'd pass up the chance to be far-and-away the favorite to win his #18, with Rafa and Roger definitely out. (I just read that this will be the first men's Major since 1999 to have neither Nadal nor Federer entered.) But surely, Thiem and Medvedev will be the next favorites down the list. It will be interesting to see how "Cincy" goes, provided they both get played.
