As for Wozniacki, it's ridiculous to criticise her for joking about on court. Her only crime there was that it wasn't actually funny, but otherwise, she's cute and lovely and has a life outside tennis which seems to make her happy. She seems very responsible, to me...
No, but none of those stunts that players pull at exho's is actually funny. Caro's imitation of Serena isn't any funnier or unfunnier than Roddick's. The only funny imitations I've ever seen are Novak's Sharapova and Nadal imitations, especially the first time you see them. Other than that we always get to see the same unfunny cliché's - The little dance with the ballboy at the change of ends. The male player who gets into his limp wristed gay act routine when he misses an easy volley. The male player who gets angry when the male on the other side of the net smashes the ball into the body of his cute female doubles partner. A player challenging a line call that was five meters over the baseline....It's rarely ever really funny, but that's ok. The're tennis players after all and not the Marx Brothers.

Exactly. The least funny and most irritating being 'Enri Leconte....

Agreed. The others don't bother me. I just don't find them funny. But what's so annoying about old Henry is that he himself seems to think that he's the funniest guy on the planet.

Well, I don't think this is a very smart move career-wise. When they play each other again in the future it will probably have a negative effect on Sloane while it will just be extra motivation for Serena. Sloane Stephens doesn't strike me as the type of girl who can feed of negativity and use it to her advantage. Someone like a Capriati or Hingis, perhaps even Henin could do that when there was a little bit of needling going on between them and Serena and use it as extra motivation in a grudge match. But they were better players than Sloane is at this point. At a time when she's struggling with her game the last thing she needs is to provoke Serena Williams and get herself involved with trash talk in the media which will put everything she says or does from now on under the microscope. Far better to keep a low profile and just work on your game, girl. And if Serena doesn't want to be your friend, there are plenty of other girls on the tour. But they might have second thoughts about becoming friends with you as well after reading all this.
I don't believe that one can truly be friends with someone when competing for history, money and championships. Martina N. herself has said that in order to finally beat Chrissy, she had to give her the cold-shoulder and down-play their friendship. I remember Chris saying how this hurt her, but she understood.

I think Sloane is correct, actually, and I'm glad she said it...
Exactly what is she correct about? Is she correct about Serena not signing her poster 8 years ago? Probably. Is she correct about Serena not being her mentor or not saying a word to her in her first 16 years on the planet? Probably. Is she correct about Serena "unfriending" her on Twitter? Probably. So putting this all together...... what does it all mean? Probably that Serena is a serious competitor and Sloane is a whiner.

I suppose it's possible, but very difficult. But the're only human, so every player is bound to like some of her colleagues more than others. But to really be close friends is hard when you know that the next day you may have to beat up on them. It depends a bit on the personality of the player as well. Kim Clijsters was friends or friendly with most players on the tour. 'Even' Serena calls Wozniacki a friend, and Richard has even said that Caro is like a daughter to him. Hard to reconcile that with the picture that Sloan is painting. So it's complicated I guess. But that's people for ya - can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. ;)

I think the whole thing missing from this is we can speculate how Serena is until we are blue in the face based off a few snippets that we have seen on TV and what a few people say about her. However, unless we are in her life on a consistent level it really is hard to say who the real Serena is. Sloane can think Serena is this awful person for not signing her poster, but if you ask me getting to wear a dress made by Serena and pose with two tennis legends for a picture is better than a signed poster. Serena has never said anything awful about Sloane. In fact, she was very complimentary and didn't use injury as an excuse for Sloane's AO win. She has had positive things to say about Sloane and her game. I mean Serena called her a potential future number 1. What more does Sloane want? Does she want Serena to pose as her and win a slam for her? You are competition. Once you beat her, she is bound and determined to not let it happen again. She sure a hell isn't going to like you after it. Sloane=Maria S. after her Wimbledon win over Serena that simple.

I think where race comes into play in this is Sloane probably feels Serena should have her back even more as a fellow black woman.

The one thing I hope doesn't happen as a result is older players turning their backs on younger players for fear of drama.

Its amazing but not surprising this has been one of the lead topics on ESPN shows Around the Horn, PTI, Sportcenter and etc. 100 % of the commentators says that Serena doesnt owe Sloane anything and that she needs to grow up. I totally agree.

While I don't think that Sloan does herself any favors here, it will certainly raise the interest the next time they play each other. Everybody loves a grudge match. :)

Given that Serena once grunted long after she actually hit the ball, I'd imagine she found Sloane's complaint about the disrespectful "come on's" to contain a healthy element of truth...
well...Sloane has dug her own tennis grave. She will be shunned by her contemporaries because she is not trustworthy, they will be scared that she will snitch. She should thank goodness she grew up in a gated community otherwise she would got a beatdown.
Since that win over Serena, the no.1 has gone on to win two titles and became no.1 and will give Sloane and the media the middle finger by defending Madrid ..

So what, I don't watch sport to see people be gracious, I watch to see them do their best at what they do best.

With many players it doesn't have to be one or the other. With Serena, however, it does.

Whether she is gracious or not is irrelevant, everyone has their flaws.

And this is one of Serena's.

Maria Sharapova had it right all the time, keep distance from these complaining chicks ...

and ungracious losers.

Sloane's mother and coach need to stop her from talking to the press and encourage her to practice more. She can't even make it out of the 1st round. This interview makes her look bad

Venus has always been distant to other players and it has worked out for her.She used to put Dementieva in her place very quickly ...or just ignored her.I think Serena was close to Jamie Hampton when they played Fedcup in Ukraine...not slumdog millionaire..

Tossip, you must have some inside information.. I have heard that some of the females pros have said that they prefer to keep their distances from Sloane and the respect level for Serena as a person and competitor is always at the highest.. Spot on Tossip

I find it odd that none of the players are talking about this. I was surprised that none of the players were saying anything on Twitter or anything.

They probably just want to stay out of it. If they choose sides everyone will be on their case as well. It's likely that they will say something about it to one or the other in private, but not on twitter, facebook or stuff like that.

Sloane needs to take a break from tennis because she is making a fool of herself.I am warming to Madison Keys..she seems grounded and well mannered.Sloane is trying to behave like that angry hateful black girl in a reality show...

Serena responds or should I say doesn't really respond:

Congrats Sloane! Serena says checkmate!
