While I agree, she has every right to say what she will. When you have given contradictory interviews where you praise Serena one minute and then blast her the next, I am like what do you believe. Like I said, Serena isn't perfect. We know she can have a nasty attitude as we have seen in matches. She also has a great attitude at times as well. She is human. Serena can't sign every autograph or visit with every fan it sucks but there just isn't enough time in the day to do it. Sloane will probably regret this interview as it came at one of the worst moments in her tennis career, and this will not be an easy one to deal with in terms of fall out. She definitely won't make friends in the locker room if this is how she lashes out when hurt or angry. Serena Williams is under no obligation to be friendly to anyone. Sports is a self made entity where you don't have to be nice just win. Serena Williams doesn't have to sign autographs or greet fans in order to be a successful athlete. She just has to win. Serena hasn't won 15 slams because she is friendly. She won them by being aggressive and ferocious!

I think Sloane is correct, actually, and I'm glad she said it...

Me, too. None of what Stephens said is surprising. If there is a worse consistently sore loser than Serena, I've never seen her/him. This is a person who has lost to her own sister, and not congratulated her. Enough said ...

So what, I don't watch sport to see people be gracious, I watch to see them do their best at what they do best.

Whether she is gracious or not is irrelevant, everyone has their flaws. Maria Sharapova had it right all the time, keep distance from these complaining chicks.

I was wondering when this subject was getting it's own thread, thanks to Anti-Pusher, we don't have to litter the Madrid thread with this hooplah.

I think Sloane's being a little naive. This is top grade winner takes all, dog eats dog stuff. Serena is the Alpha Female of the pack, so I'm not really sure what the Sloane Ranger is expecting. Serena isn't out there to make friends, she's out there to win things.

Take a look at some of the videos jhar put up -- The Justin Gimelstob interviews with the likes of Becker, Connors. They needed to "dislike" opponents - it helped them raise their games. I don't think Serena is much different. This isn't girl guides, it's pro tennis.

Serena has never said anything negative about this girl...what does she expect Serena to do ..hold her hand.Sloane is so wrong on many levels and she seems NEGATIVELY affected by her win over Serena...Williams has put that loss behind her and has become no.1 in the world, put her country back in the world group, won two more titles and is letting her racket do the talking...Sloane should do the same...let her racket speak louder otherwise at the moment she eating sour grapes..
Serena doesnt need to be nice because tennis is an individual sport and if she watches the sisters documentary she will know that Serena is very competitive and is out there to win...
Sloane better grow some before its too late...

Sloane s father was a convicted felon, who was convicted for rape TWICE and armed robbery....now she has the audacity to attack Serena with these petty issues when she has a big elephant like that in the closet. She should stop assigning blame and look at herself closely...an apple doesnt fall far from the tree.
Serena is a proven champion who has endured years of ridicule, racism and jealousy but she has never backed down...she reloaded and the best revenge is success and Serena has had a lot of it.Serena has always had a solid support system from her dad , mother and sisters and they have advised her well.Sloane would have learned a lot from the sisters about being a black tennis player on tour instead she runs to the people who will bring her down.
Sloane has to be careful that she might implode from all this resentment festering in her psyche.Wozniacki tried to ridicule Serena and look at her now languishing in obscurity and she got a lot of backlash from social media.
I hope Sloane doesnt turn out to be like her father...

Excuse me? Are you saying that because her father was convicted for rape and armed robbery that she's somehow culpable or similar?

Really?

I mean, it's okay to defend Serena without that, you know?

To be fair to Sloane though, she's not to blame for her father's mistakes. And if ever there was a much ado about nothing news story in tennis it was the hoopla surrounding Caro Wozniacki's imitation of Serena. There are potentially several reasons responsible for the nosedive her career has taken but that little controversy that was over before it started definitely isn't one of them. And as far as the social media is concerned, for as long as I can remember Wozniacki got negative comments for absolutely everything including having the nerve to wake up in the morning. But everyone in the public eye knows that the social media is the favorite outlet of crazies and sociopaths, so I'm sure that she, or any other tennis player for that matter isn't concerned about what any of those characters may say about them.

I think Serena was smart to distance herself from her. I mean obviously there is a level of hypocrisy here. She can show up to an interview and berate Serena, then show up and wear clothes Serena designed and act all buddy buddy during Fed Cup. Serena even started distancing herself when people were asking her if she was a mentor. Serena isn't a baby sitter. She is a tennis player trying to cement her legacy. She doesn't have time for friends only hardware.

its too much of a coincedence that Woz and Sloane use the same agency.....two sour sore losers who dont take responsibility for their lack of success...Sloane will get the short end of the stick because she is black...po thang she really needs a strong parental figure in her life.Serena and Venus benefited from Richard s strong leadership..

So now it's Sloane's agency's fault too. Is it their fault she's like a rapist and thief, or am I getting confused?

Whose fault is it that she beat Serena at Oz? The postman's?

As for Wozniacki, it's ridiculous to criticise her for joking about on court. Her only crime there was that it wasn't actually funny, but otherwise, she's cute and lovely and has a life outside tennis which seems to make her happy. She seems very responsible, to me...

Hey Mr K. Tossip is just frustrated with Sloane's character. It has been well documented the struggles that Willams sisters have experience over the years. As a fan, I am assuming that Tossip would just rather leave it on the court since we all know Serena and especially Venus are on the backside of their careers. All this toxic mess that sloane is spurring does no good. Sloane is so ignorant that she has refused to mentioned what was done to her at the AO by Vika who played her like a complete idiot. Sloane would be wise to focus on her game just as Calvy and others mentioned. If not, she will soon be in the ranks of Melanie Odin and others as players who couldnt cut it in the limelight.

I appreciate that, and look forward to read more of your threads, right here on the WTA forum.

I see this thread is mighty popular.
Serena seems to always produce controversial news, this time by totally ignoring somone!

In fairness, the WTA is hardly worth discussing for the tennis, is it? So it's either cat-fights or sexy broads in their skimpies...

Or even better, mix the two and give me broads in their skimpies having a sexy cat-fight. Of course, Serena wouldn't be part of that thread, but certainly we'd keep Sloane and Caro... :p

We've moved on. We're imagining them all (except Serena :s ) naked and cat-fighting.

Try keep up...
