Hahaha, it’s funny to see how Federer’s fans jump so fast just thinking about Rafa is going to beat him like always he did before and like other players has done this year and by the way I don’t remember he was injured.....

You are so ridic. As Federer said - he's not going to never lose to Nadal again. Fed fans know that. It's Nadal's fans though that are afraid that he's never going to be able to beat Federer again - unless they're playing on clay, natch. That's all you guys have ever clung to in the GOAT debated - "but Rafa's got a superior H2H over Federer!" Now the margin has dwindled - especially off clay - and you're getting desperate for talking points. Maybe you'd be better off spending your time trying to figure out how Nadal can win a WTF before he retires. You know...since he's got a great big goose egg by that stat. If he don't win it this year then he ain't ever gonna to win it.. He can always hope that someone else takes out Federer for him, right? :lulz1:

I think Nadal will be back for the WTF. If Roger loses in Basel and/or skips Paris then he'll have wrapped up YE #1, so why not play for the big event that he's never won? He'll have has 3 weeks to recover if he does't play Paris, so he should be fine.

Assuming health, if I'm Rafa, I play Paris if Roger wins Basel AND plays Paris. If Roger loses Basel and/or doesn't play Paris, he might as well save his body for the WTF.

Paris Masters begins right after Basel gets over. Paris first round could be on 31st/1st which is only 2/3 days after the Basel final. At Basel, he has 4 3-set matches which will not be easy. I am actually worried Roger might get zapped out sometime during the Paris masters and might lose a match. Roger really needs to win Paris to have a reasonable chance to clinch YE-no. 1.

Consider this:

Final at Basel (300)
Win at Bercy (1000) and Nadal doesn't play Bercy.

That will leave Roger 660 points behind Nadal.

So, Roger will have much more than a puncher's chance to get no. 1 after WTF. There are some scenarios that allow it. In that case, the only scenario which won't allow Roger to succeed is Rafa reaches the final undefeated. One loss of Nadal and Roger will be in a position to make him pay for it.

And like I said, Roger doesn't even need to win Basel to make it happen. But if he wins Basel, then won't even need a loss from Nadal at WTF. He will have a chance till the end.

So, Roger does need a lot of help from Nadal. But, let's see.

^Makes a lot of sense but you're assuming Nadal does not play Paris or makes very few points (which is not a given if he plays).

If Nadal plays Paris, then Roger's ye no. 1 chances will get really slim I guess.

P.S.: Paris is still 11/12 days away (2nd round) so Nadal should recover from his problem before that.
We will never know what Rafa's real problem is. Has he stated explicitly that his pain is due to him hitting on it with his racquet?

It would be silly for Nadal to admit his knee pain is self-inflicted. He would get no sympathy for that.

As much as I would love to see Fed clinch YE 1, the chance of that happening is near zero. This is all because of his impetuous decision to play Canada, the most knuckle headed thing he has ever done. If not for that, he probably would have won Cindy, USO (which would have widened the major count and laid to rest the GOAT debate), and guaranteed YE 1, Player of the Year.

In case anyone is wondering why the Laver Cup came into existence, it is because the current players are trying to help Laver financially. Those who played before the open era didn’t earn the kind of money today’s pros do. Federer et al pushed for the Laver Cup as a way to give back. This is according to Godsick.

Happens more often than we know! I think the players even had to help out Borg who just had some awful luck in business! He should be sitting pretty, but the biggest fall IMO is Becker! He owned Germany but ended up needing that job as coach of Nole! I seem to remember besides the controversial personal life, businesswise he must have really screwed up! So many wanted to be in the aura of this kid way back when! Some who are more conspiratorial might think Tiriac took more than his share; hence him being the 1st tennis billionaire!

He netted an easy put away ball against Cilic, got angry and hit his leg above the knee a few times with his racquet and appeared to shout puta. A few days later he tells us all he has a sore knee. Could be belting his leg didn't help.

External bruising is no big deal and nothing to worry about - should heal up quickly.

Thanks, Front. I found a video. He didn't say puta, though. FYI, the most likely would be "hijo de puta," but he didn't say that.

More silly is to think that Nadal was self inflicted, not just silly but stupid and retarded which just a hater can say that. It's the most ridiculous thing that I've read around even that I've read many ridiculous things before but this is too much

To be honest, I hope it was self-inflicted. Because if it's a recurrence of the tendonitis, it would be worse. And can you leave off of the "silly," "retarded," and "hater?" I'm on my last nerve with that crap. I just got back from Puerto Rico. A little perspective, please.

Well...just saw the Basel draw and Roger has Tiafoe in the first round (amazing how that keeps happening to Tiafoe) with a potential of Steve Johnson or Paire in the 2nd round, Shapovalov in the QF and Goffin or Sock in the SF and DelPo or Cilic in the F. I'm sure Tiafoe will be trying his damnedest to take out Roger on his home court and Roger will be doing his best to put a beatdown on the kid after the USO.

If Roger comes through this draw and wins and has to play a couple of 3 setters then I don't see him showing up in Paris 2 days later for a Wed 1st round match. If he doesn't win - I'm still not sure he'll play Paris. What's the point since he won't be able to get to YE#1? All things considered - if I was Nadal I'd skip Paris and take my chances that Roger won't play both Basel and Paris because he'd rather win the WTF for the 7th time.

SSSSHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! You trying to give Carol an aneurysm by explaining the likelihood of the coincidence of a "knee injury" not related to a hitting himself in the same leg the day before is slim as hell? You KNOW that's sacrilege...
