Has anyone noticed that Rafa is often serving first these days?  I thought maybe the opponents were winning the toss and doing it to disrupt him, but I can't think Karlovic would choose to receive.  Maybe this is part of their more aggressive strategy.

and Bernard tomic seems to have turned a corner in his head since that police party shambles a while back..coming out with some sensible tennis comments, going top 20 and now beating ferrer in straights..

he is turning 23 years old this month, maybe his mentality has matured finally. although he lost to murray in davis cup I was surprised how he kept his cool in the face of murraymania.

and Bernard tomic seems to have turned a corner in his head since that police party shambles a while back..coming out with some sensible tennis comments, going top 20 and now beating ferrer in straights.. he is turning 23 years old this month, maybe his mentality has matured finally. although he lost to murray in davis cup I was surprised how he kept his cool in the face of murraymania.

I think Tomic got serious about his career, I read an article where he mentions he shoots for a top 15 finish by year end. That would be a good realistic goal and it would prove that he is not just a playboy. He could defeat Richie for starters tomorrow...

I don't think it has hurt his mentality to have a push from the younger Aussies, Kyrios and Kokkinakis, coming up to show that he's not the only best hope for Oz tennis.  They, and some misfortunes, have scared the brat out of him, perhaps.  Hopefully so.
