Bautista Agut holding his own against Raonic.  Gasquet and Pospisil are battling it out in the 3rd.  Still there are few good matches to come.  Rafa facing Ivo's serving bombs.  I am off to conquer another business day LOL Enjoy tennis everybody. :bye:

Fabio is so unpredictable.

Understatement of the year. LOL But credit goes to Anderson, he has played really well in the past few months.

Has anyone noticed that Rafa is often serving first these days?  I thought maybe the opponents were winning the toss and doing it to disrupt him, but I can't think Karlovic would choose to receive.  Maybe this is part of their more aggressive strategy.

Nadal has usually gotten past Dr. Ivo, so I would think he will skate by him today as well.

Ivo's ground strokes have come on a lot over the last 10 years.  10 years ago, he couldn't hit  a barn door if you kept the ball in play.

That seems to be just what happened.  Hi, Shawn!

2hr 43mins for rafa/wafa to get past old giraffe face karlovic.    a win is a win I suppose.

next up, another rather tall bloke with a thermonuclear serve but with (slightly) superior ground strokes, the maple leaf missile himself..milos raonic.

the mighty nish escaped a dismal start to sneak past nick k. wonder if those two will ever contest a major final in future years ?..could be. :)

and Bernard tomic seems to have turned a corner in his head since that police party shambles a while back..coming out with some sensible tennis comments, going top 20 and now beating ferrer in straights..

he is turning 23 years old this month, maybe his mentality has matured finally. although he lost to murray in davis cup I was surprised how he kept his cool in the face of murraymania.

I think Tomic got serious about his career, I read an article where he mentions he shoots for a top 15 finish by year end. That would be a good realistic goal and it would prove that he is not just a playboy. He could defeat Richie for starters tomorrow...

I don't think it has hurt his mentality to have a push from the younger Aussies, Kyrios and Kokkinakis, coming up to show that he's not the only best hope for Oz tennis.  They, and some misfortunes, have scared the brat out of him, perhaps.  Hopefully so.

Game, Set and Match Nadal.  Good professional performance.  Cilic or Wawrinka next up for the Spanish Bull.
