not sure what to expect from fed here tbh

These days that's how I always feel. At this time of the year he should play well but equally he hasn't played for a while so he could be rustier than a 500 year old nail. Soon see I guess.

So Thiem is Nole's first opponent. They never played before so it will be interesting to see the match up between Nole and upcoming youngster.

James Ward did well to qualify for this one, beating Troicki convincingly in the final round.

Andy's draw is decent until Nole in the QFs. Hard to gauge the chances of Djokovic getting upset before then, you wouldn't have backed him to lose to Tsonga, Robredo or Nishikori on hard courts but then he crushed everyone in Beijing... I doubt he'll lose.

Nadal is one to watch after a disappointing loss to Klizan last week, Roger has had some time off so may be vulnerable early on if someone feels inclined to step up to the plate, but I doubt he'll have too much trouble.

Djokovic vs Thiem should be a good match.

Rafael is always the tennis player to watch , IMO

He could be taken out by any qualifier, so it's hard not to agree.

Relieved to see Fed in the draw; there were some rumors that he may skip this in view of circus.

Murray got good deal. He gets to face slumping Ferrer in R16. Instead, it could have been Kei, Milos
or Berdych, all of whom are hot.

Not so sure the ladies here would class this as hot ? :snigger

This would be a no as well. :snigger

Roger goes to very few tourneys without his whole entourage. Shanghai is always one
of them. He misses Mirka and kids so much that he usually heads back home fast from Shanghai.
Hope he stays around long enough this time to say Hello to Novak.

And more pertinently, goodbye to Novak. A Fedal final in Shanghai would be welcome...

Isner or Milos might have objections to it, not to mention Novak.

But before the event, we live in hope, like Isner and Milos...

You really want Ralf to finish #1. A Shanghai championship would certainly help.

^ That ain't happening. I think Roger should be fairly sharp, he knows how important getting a top 2 ranking is for draw purposes and no reason he shouldn't get more points than Rafa in the Fall.

I doubt Nadal will be making the finals here so Fedal might be out of the question. The surface never suited Rafa and he's not exactly in top form yet.

That's quite a win for Karlovic. Good on him.

Cilic looks to be right back where he was before USO. Just a well-timed incredible streak on his part.

I think from Cilic's perspective, a bit of introspection is to be expected. I think he's still hungover after the USO...

Watching the clip above (as I didn't watch the match) it seems Karlovic played very well too.
