Tignor has spoken . He is predicting a Nadalovic final with Novak winning. More importantly, he is predicting a semifinal spot for Berdych (see rankings thread for details) which would block Rafa from becoming #4 seed at RG.

It is possible that Novak (loses to Kei) due to not enough match play.

It is possible that Andy (loses to Ferrer) due to too much match play.

But, I do think Fed can beat Bird in Rome, as he has the right balance in match play.
Moreover he has a 50/50 chance to beat Rafa, the Nadal who showed up against Berdych
on saturday and a 80/20 chance to beat Rafa, the Shankadal who showed up against Andy yesterday.

Murray has never beaten Ferrer on clay, so I guess it isn't surprising that he picked David to win if they meet in their quarter.

If Fed meets and then beats Nadal? I'm going to start calling the Bull - "Yippers".

Exactly. It's a massive hypothetical regarding both of them, but if Fed makes a semi with Rafa, well, Rafa would need to be playing right handed for the old bloke to have a chance...

If last Sunday's Nadal shows up its going to be a train wreck of a match I'm afraid.

It would be an even greater anomaly in Rafa's recent troubles on clay if he failed to dispatch Roger. I'd be more shocked by a defeat to federer in a semi, than I am by the defeats to FFS. A match with Roger is actually what Rafa probably needs...

I have to agree. Among other things, Rafa's lefty FH to Roger's one-handed righty BH is lethal, especially on clay, vs. the two-handed BH of Murray, Djokovic, etc., who don't have the same kind of trouble.

:snicker My thoughts exactly. They meet up and Ralf will be locked and loaded for RG. Nothing builds his confidence like playing the old boy on clay.

It works both ways. If they meet and Rafa loses, he might even withdraw from RG. :lolz:

If Roger meets the Rafa who beat Berdy on Sat., I'd give him a 20/80 chance. If he meets the one Andy played, I'd still only give him 50/50, given match-up issues. Different players, different challenges.

Gimelstob made a big deal out of how Paris Centre court is beveled which also helped Rafa against Roger in those finals; the wide open range of it all! :dodgy:

Tomorrow Feli will play against Kyrgios, I would bet for Feli :popcorn
And by the way, I heard that Feli went to get married in April but I haven't hear anymore about it

Well, apparently during the ceremony, when the minister asked if anyone has an objection to the marriage, Murray's mom made a big scene and they had to cancel the whole thing. Seems like she was not even invited...

Under no circumstances does Roger have a 50% chance against Nadal on clay. Ridiculous. And this is based on Nadal's form in Madrid? He reached the final, how far did Roger go again?
