It still wasn't some incredible point, Roger made a couple suicide approaches to net like he did for much of the 2nd set. If y'all are going crazy over that point it shows what the rest of the match was like.

lol you're too much sometimes. Roger wouldn't have beaten anyone today. Anyways I'm one of the few people on this board to praise Coric overall, I like the kids game. He just needs consistency, if he gets that he'd probably shoot up to top 4 in a hurry.

It is not an upset, when you analyze how they played today, but otherwise it is a clear upset. You cannot compare their resume, and based on rankings, Borna was also the underdog.

I don't understand why this is being treated as a big upset. Roger was wary of playing Borna and admitted as much before the match. If Borna wins the final, now that would be an upset.

It wasn't just that, the fact of the matter is Roger isn't going to get to the end of a big tournament if he doesn't destroy the first few opponents. He was a layup out there today.

Borna has improved this year significantly. Talented he was, but his inconsistency made him a journeyman. Not anymore. Think where he started this year. Ranked 48.
Not just he is now ranked in the top 20, but be just made his first master final today and that will bring him closer to the top 10.
Technically, he did two things:
1. He tidied up his service game. He does not serve bombs, but he places them very well.
2. He learned how to move forward on short points.

His movement and anticipation are also very good. If you can get a lot of balls back and attack the short ones like he did today, you can trouble a lot of players.

Defeating Roger in master SF, by a guy who had never been in a Master final before? What the hell is an upset in your opinion ?

He beat Roger in the Halle final, while Roger wasn't razor sharp that match he wasn't that bad either (he was worse the rest of Halle). Also came close to beating a much better Roger at IW this year, it is not a big upset given Fed's current form and the fact he had struggled badly with the first 3 opponents.
