I take that point, but it's just tennis, and my understanding is that the Asian players enjoy a lot of support across the pan-Asian community. It's not like there are loads of Asian stars in tennis, but I could be wrong about that. However, I didn't find the Chinese as prejudiced against the Japanese as the reverse, in my own experience.

That's like saying pakistani tennis players would get support in India just cause they're asian. LOL

There’s still a lot of tension between China/Japan and Korea/Japan, not as much on an individual basis but more on a nation vs nation basis. In a recent poll, Koreans said they would be unhappiest about having Japanese neighbors than people from any other country.

I'd say it's the opposite and why wouldn't it be? There have been some notable violent anti-Japanese rallies in China over the past 10-15 years. One of my best friends lives there and he's talked about how bad some of them are.

Anyways I wouldn't hold my breath on Kei getting support vs Roger of all players. And I was being a little snarky after your bizarre comments about a few finals Nadal lost on fast surfaces :)
That's more recent than my experience, which is purely anecdotal, anyway, and of course Roger is wildly popular most everywhere. Only you would think my comments bizarre, because you think that not winning a final means being crap, when I'm just pointing out that he's not utter crap on fast outdoor HCs.

I guess Shapo v. Basilashvili is the one to look out for in tomorrow's schedule.

oh look another joke draw for faker and nightmare draw for Fed

Yes, as nightmare as he normally gets. Federer has all 3 Chinese wildcards in his quarter.

You worried about Tsitsipas? Could be trouble. Not sure who else is.

I can't believe all the 2nd Round matches to be played today/tonight with many 1st Round matches to be played! Not sure I've seen things this out of whack unless weather played havoc with the schedule! :nono:

lol@ mugfils tanking a point. What an idiot! :lulz1::facepalm:

You are laughing at tanking a point. La Monf has tanked games, has tanked sets and even has tanked matches. This is nothing (and somewhat sensible considering he is ahead 40-0).

Some entertaining tennis in Djokovic v. Chardy. Djokovic got grumpy earlier in the 2nd set, but got over himself.

Novak won Chardy 6:3, 7:5

But news said one more record is broken, Novak won 28 consecutive sets to Chardy.

They even count that stuff, but i would say Fed would have it by now.

Thiem is out. S&V is alive and well in Matt Ebden.

I didn't think he was poor. Ebden was just better. But he's never done well in Asia, I'll give you that.

Caught just the final TB. Indeed, Ebden played that extremely well. If he played like that the entire match, there is not much you can do unless your ROS is top drawer.
Never seen Ebden before. Refreshing to see a S/V game.
