That's too bad, and I hope it's nothing serious. I was looking forward to this match, and what I did see was some good stuff, even if not the best Carlos.

Yeah, pitty. I was hoping to see the 3rd set.

Apparently it was more of a left side issue with Carlos? lets hope he will be okay for Turin

I think he has to win Paris dosent he to have a chance...agree it would be irritating lol! and a farce:)
Yeah, if he wins Paris he’s up to second and then who knows, in Turin. Rafa could be the first player to win 2 slams in a season and finish outside the top 2. In fact, I think he’ll be only the second player since the 70’s or 80’s (after Novak in 2016) to win more slams than anyone but not finish the season as #1. Generally the player who did best at the slams had also taken the top spot.

There were 3 seasons during Jimmy Connors five in a row #1 finishes where he was definitely not the best player at the slams, and I’m sure it happened in the 80’s, I think 1982, McEnroe was number one without even winning a slam. That might be the last time that happened…

There’s a looming threat of Tsitsipas finishing the season as the world number one, which would be both farcically and irritating…
Haha, that would be kind of funny.

But don't worry, it is almost impossible. I believe he has to either win Paris and the WTF with one loss, or reach the Paris final and win the WTF undefeated...while at the same time, he needs Rafa and Alcaraz either to not play the WTF or do poorly.

Meaning, it is possible, but very unlikely. Not to mention that, assuming he beats Tommy Paul, he has to beat one of Musetti/Djokovic and then a very hot FAA/Rune in the Final.

I wonder if Carlos will play Turin or not.

Also I wonder if the fact that his daddy FAA was awaiting in the next round played a factor in not continuing (I'm not doubting Alcaraz' injury but it's pointless to fight if you are not 100% and can't think that you can go much further in the tournament).

All that being said, I'm now even more disappointed in Nadal's early loss because he could have been in a better position ranking points wise for the YE#1 heading into Turin.

Carlos Alcaraz confirms he is doubtful for the ATP Finals,

"" I'm gonna go back home and do the needed exams to see how bad the injury is.I was struggling today. There was no way I could continue".

He has picked up some nasty habits like his God Daddy, Rafa! There's the bottles lining up after a changeover, now strategic injury retirements!

At least Alcaraz doesn't believe in detoxing water with positive thinking or in the power of Energy pyramids. :bye: Also he still hasn't been disqualified or deported from slams. :bye: He also doesn't break rackets, curse at his team and abuse tennis balls in anger either. :bye:

Novak used to retire injured a bit when he was that age as well. I remember one match against Rafa in Paris where Novak lost the first two sets and retired “injured” but claiming he was in control in the match :lulz1:
