I don't know about Fils' upside -- we really never known until they have that big "breakout run," but one thing I'll say is that he seems to have a very good floor - he seems like a lock to be a second tier, top 10 guy and Masters winner, who will go deep in Slams and maybe win one or two.

To put it another way, I think his floor has surpassed guys like Rune, Korda, and Auger-Aliassime -- all guys who have equal or better upside, but have disappointed to varying degrees. Fils has the feeling (filsing?) of being more consistent overall.
Not little Holger, he’s still only 21 El Dude. You’ve clung your fingernails on the nearly decrepit FAA who is now 24…. Just ‘sayin

I gave up on FAA awhile ago, at least to be anything more than a pretty good player with maybe a hot run at some point (e.g. Dimitrov in 2017). Not sure what you mean about "clinging nails."

And again, consider the difference between "floor" and "ceiling" as a span of likely outcomes. I think Fils' floor is higher than Rune's at this point. Fils, at worst (barring injury) is going to be a back-end top 10 player - a guy who wins a bunch of 250s and 500s, and maybe several Masters. Rune, at worst, is going to continue flailing and be a cautionary tale.

But yes, Rune has a super-high ceiling. If he puts it together and gets his head on right, he's going to be the third of a new Big Three. I don't think Fils is capable of that.

Rune hasnt had a good 2024, I feel 2025 will be a 'telling year' for Rune, before he can become 'the third of a Big Three' he has done well to make the QFs at Bercy a tournament that suits him, still he needs to be 'more consistent' overall.
