I don't know about Fils' upside -- we really never known until they have that big "breakout run," but one thing I'll say is that he seems to have a very good floor - he seems like a lock to be a second tier, top 10 guy and Masters winner, who will go deep in Slams and maybe win one or two.

To put it another way, I think his floor has surpassed guys like Rune, Korda, and Auger-Aliassime -- all guys who have equal or better upside, but have disappointed to varying degrees. Fils has the feeling (filsing?) of being more consistent overall.
Not little Holger, he’s still only 21 El Dude. You’ve clung your fingernails on the nearly decrepit FAA who is now 24…. Just ‘sayin

I gave up on FAA awhile ago, at least to be anything more than a pretty good player with maybe a hot run at some point (e.g. Dimitrov in 2017). Not sure what you mean about "clinging nails."

And again, consider the difference between "floor" and "ceiling" as a span of likely outcomes. I think Fils' floor is higher than Rune's at this point. Fils, at worst (barring injury) is going to be a back-end top 10 player - a guy who wins a bunch of 250s and 500s, and maybe several Masters. Rune, at worst, is going to continue flailing and be a cautionary tale.

But yes, Rune has a super-high ceiling. If he puts it together and gets his head on right, he's going to be the third of a new Big Three. I don't think Fils is capable of that.

Rune hasnt had a good 2024, I feel 2025 will be a 'telling year' for Rune, before he can become 'the third of a Big Three' he has done well to make the QFs at Bercy a tournament that suits him, still he needs to be 'more consistent' overall.

Oh well the No 2 seed Alcaraz, crashes out of Bercy 16 63 75 against Humbert, who was really feeding off the French fans and he remained 'fearless all match' regardless of the score, and this best win of career to date! and the 3rd set was one of the best this year between both players!
Alcaraz has to use his challenges more wisely in future
It was a great match last night. Humbert was super agressive. Alcaraz played good actually apart from the 1st set, but it wasn't enough against the red hot opponent carried by the crowd and crazy atmosphere. I tought Carlos will find a way to win somehow, when it was 5:5 on Humbert's serve he had a slim chance there, but no break points, then got broken the next game. It's never boring to watch Alcaraz, win or lose, it's worth it.

Humbert and Popyrin are kind of similar players, not consistent enough, but can make scalps and beat top players.

Going 3 sets in the match between Rune - Alex de Minaur, as Alex won the 2nd set 64, has been a good close match so far.

Well done! Rune d Alex de Minaur 64 46 75 he reaches his 2nd Paris Masters SF, 2nd Masters SF of 2024
Rune will play Zverev in the SF
Rune is 13th on the ATP Live Race on 3,025 points, and can still qualify for the ATP Finals, should Rune win Paris, he would move to within 120 points of De Minaur.De Minaur will play ATP250 Belgrade next week, Rune will play ATP250 Metz.

Don Fabio,
According to Marca the Ferrero Academy has installed the same surface as the one in Turin on its indoor court to help Alcaraz prepare for the ATP Finals, court was installed in October, and has already been tested.
When Humbert came out 'super aggressive' especially in the 1st set against Alcaraz, I wondered if he could keep his level up? Carlos did adjust in the 2nd and 3rd sets, Humbert kept his belief all match, and he has earned a QF spot.Well done to the Frenchman in front of his home crowd
BTW a bit surprised with this news earlier, Goran Invanisevic will be the new coach of Elena Rybakina, they will start together in 2025

Humbert 62 1st set over Thompson 1 set away from his first Masters SF
Tight 2nd set, Thompson was serving for the 2nd set and Humbert broke back to take it to a TB
Well done Humbert on your first Masters SF defeating Thompson 62 76(4)!

Interesting. I think Carlos has put a good effort in the late season swing after the USO, compared to previous years. Results are still far from the expectations, but I think he is playing well in general and will manage to fully adjust his game to faster indoor courts.

Me too. After a long wait he decided to coach a WTA player. Let's see if he can raise her game and polish the mood swings.

Jim Courier had some thoughts on Rune's game, while calling his SF match,
" It's still a very immature game- he needs a sense of order"
Personally speaking Rune and his shot selection at times, is poor, especially at this level, he has the shots, though sometimes he dosent think and rushes, he tends to lose focus, needs to be more patient in the rallies.

BTW Zverev with his win in the SF now has passed Alcaraz into No 2.and will be seeded No 2 at the ATP Finals, making a Sinner v Alcaraz clash already in the group stage.

A tight contest between KK and Humbert, in the 2nd SF match, going 3 sets as Humbert won the 2nd set 64
KK has had a MTO problem with his right thigh, not running between points, lets see how much he has left in the final stages of the 3rd set
KK service game broken and Humbert leads 5-3

Humbert d KK being a set down to make his first Masters 1000 final, 67(6) 64 63, bad luck to KK who sustained a left thigh problem in the latter part of the 3rd set.
Humbert will play Zverev in the final
Humbert becomes the first Frenchman to reach the Paris Masters final since Tsonga in 2011
