I don't think he did well hanging in. He handed those TB's on a silver platter. Basically didn't threaten Djokovic's serve the entire match due to his awful returning. Anyways Roger clearly should've packed the season in after USO. It was the obvious move but he didn't do it for some reason. And since then he is flailing about with weak results and a lot of long matches which won't be good for 2019.

You need to keep playing tho to a certain extent. I really don’t like how they designed the tour. Should be more spread out. This is too much the silly season.

Haha all these frustrated Fed clowns here: everyone ‘choking’ against Djokovic, whining about celebrations, Fed being too old, claiming Djokovic is a pusher. Lol, it’s gonna be a fun the coming years.

I know I expected better from this crowd! I wouldn't have participated or come back after being bounced if I didn't get something out of the banter! Unfortunately it's becoming banal, repetitious, and insulting to true knowledgeable tennis fans for the most part! :nono:

Very nice to see Novak being able to play these matches again the past 6 months. Incredible turnaround, 2017 makes you need to rejoice every win, especially against Fed or Nadal.
Absolutely. He was off the rails almost 2 full years. I don't take anything for granted

If the past few years show us anything it's that taking time off is key for the older guard. Even if they are taking time off for injuries. It has been the case with the top 3 and with Roger at age 37 it was the obvious play. He's been playing mental midget tennis since the IW final, a 3 month break after USO could've been good for him mentally as well as physically.

Yeah he did win more on Nole's first serve and he still did a poor job on the first serve return. The second serve returning was a horror fest and that made things easy on Novak.

If he serves like this he has a shot at making the semis or even finals of YEC. But this was just one performance, his serve has been really off until today. I'm not expecting him to do anything at YEC, 1-2 seems more likely to me than anything else.

If he doesn't land in Djokovics group(unless the Mallorcan plays it dirty) I think he can even go 3-0.I mean the field is Anderson,Cilic,Nishikori,Thiem,Zverev,Isner.
Needs someone to take out Djokovic though to have a chance of winning

H2h 25-22 in Novak’s favour now. Novak now definitely making up for those easy wins Fed got at the beginning when Novak was still a pup. Starting to reflect better their strengths.

lol they've played over 30 of those matches since 2010. Roger has been a layup since IW this year. It's kind of pathetic at age 37 that he can make a match close like today. Clowns like you really still think Roger's playing his best tennis

We will see how the groups play out but the way Roger has been playing I could see him lose to anyone. I especially wouldn't like his chances against a big hitter if his serve is off.

A heartbreaking close loss... dreams do come true B-)

Nothing came true actually. Here's your quote below

"This matchup is delicious. :good: Can’t wait to see who will lose  Hopefully it will be in either humiliating fashion 6-0, 6-0 or in a dramatic match after wasting 10 match points:lol3:
::sw1::"

No one wasted 10 match points and it was about a million miles from the score you had hoped for. Don't take up betting any time soon.

Del Potro is out of the WTF tho right? I’m reading Thiem should be happy Fed beat Kei, but I think with DP out they both qualify. Indeed isner might even join the bunch if Nadal pulls out.

Yeah after the Millman and Anderson losses in slams nothing can be taken for granted.Though this week will give him lot of confidence imo.hopefully someone takes out Djokovic in wtf SF.

You forgot a few emoticons there :)

33 of 47 matches played since 2010. That's a wide disparity since Roger turned 29, an age which all 3 of the top guys dropped off badly (even if they later came back to a lesser level). Anyways the Djoker fan inferiority complex kicks in. Roger who just lost to Milkman in a grand slam is playing his best ever tennis. Yep

Seems pretty evenly distributed. Novak was 22 in 2010. You wanted them to play 30 matches when Novak was 17?

What do you mean by ‘starting to reflect their strengths’?

My opinion is that Novak is a better player than Federer. Fed has more slams because he is older and thus benefitted from the 2003-2007 era. Novak has also underperformed at times, losing to Stan and Murray at the usopen in finals.

And add the second loss at USO to Nadal too.
However, I think your statement will trigger an uproar from Fedfans.
