Can't believe he gave Rafa a time warning on his 2nd service game, I had it time at 22 seconds but the television said it was 28..smh:nono

Nice to see Grigor plow down the third tier players like Verdasco and Fognini.

I guess Rafa is in good form - what a thrashing.

Then probably Isner is going to be Rafa's next opponent? hmmm, it's going to be a good test for Rafa being that Isner plays well on clay. Definetely he has a tough draw but maybe it's going to help him more than we think :-/

Didn't watch, but judging by the score a comfortable start on clay for Rog...

Against #108 in the world... I would hope the scores look like that. At least he doesn't have anyone really difficult until the quarters. We'll have a better idea about his confidence and play when he meets Ferrer.

Isner could definitely be a test at least in mental endurance if John is playing well, but yeah 6-1, 6-2 against 108 is expected not impressive.

It's always interesting to see your comments about Rafa these days because prior to 2011, you was one of his biggest fans. You have however since explained that Novak was your main guy but since he wasn't winning majors , I guess you stayed dormant with your admiration. Is that pretty accurate

Watching the replay of Roger-Chardy and I must say I am really impressed with Roger's backhand. It looks like he gives himself a bit more clearance during the rallies with a healthy injection of top spin but he flattens it out too when needed, especially going DTL, which he has many times today. I hope he keeps it up.

Was never "dormant" about Novak and if you ask Moxie or tented, I rooted for him to win against Rafa pre-2011. If you can manage to sneak your way into the old forums at the other site... you will see for yourself. :) It's just that Rafa won the bigger matches, and I did wonder if Djokovic would ever push through that.

And if you remember back in 2011, I was rooting for Novak in Indian Wells and you were all about, "He's never beaten Rafa in a final." Then he did. And he did it again in Miami. Next you were saying he never beat Rafa on clay, and he did in Madrid. But that wasn't "real" clay and you knew Rafa was going to win Rome because, "you could tell by the look in his eyes". And I thought after the Murray match, that Rafa would win, and was okay with it. But then Novak beat him in two in Rome. Your last one was that he never beat Rafa in five sets, but that was over in Wimbledon that year.

When it became the two of them contending for the majors and 1000's I picked my horse and stuck with him. I applauded Ralf's finding a way to get back on the winning side of things again too. Now he's climbing that ladder again, and he should have those kind of numbers against the player he faced today.

I don't know, Lucas Pouille is #108 but quite talented and is a good candidate to end the year in the top 40-50.

He is talented, but he really needs a first serve.
