Young guns are still lacking technically in several aspects of their game. It is unreasonable to expects them to shoot right to the top in a very short time frame.

Seriously...after playing out of his mind against Roger at RG, what did he do for the rest of the year?

Lost the first 6-1, bagelled in the second.

And that forehand is like an eclipse...do not look directly at it or you will hurt your eyes.

Really disappointed in Gulbis this year but it's mostly down to his shoulder injury last year which is still affecting his forehand in a big way. I missed all the tennis today with work but I really hope Gulbis gets his form back soon as he's great to watch imo when healthy and in good form. The FH is weird and ugly alright but was deadly before he hurt his shoulder. Sucks for him and hope it's ok now and just confidence issues as he says and not a physical ailment hampering his swing. When in form he's a big threat on clay to anyone. He should be the one winning the match with the score he lost by today as he's too talented to be in a bad slump like this.

Good News to all Rafa Fans. Tignor has spoken and predicts an early loss for Rafa. You know
what this means. Rafa may end up winning this. :snicker

Maybe he's gone back to the cigarettes, hookers and booze after making his point last year?

Good for Lucas Poille at the same token. He had been the chosen player lately by the French federation to promote and seems he does not let them down.

Novak standing on the baseline - sometimes inside the baseline - and already with a break point in the Vinolas' first service game.

2-0 Novak.

Although he was finalist a number of times, Boris Becker never won a clay court title.

The fourth game in and having to defend close to a dozen break points on his serve, Vinolas is already having that desperate look on his face. 4-0 Novak.

24 minutes in, 4-0, 15-15 - Vinolas has his first winner.

Chardy has won 1st round and so Fed gets a revenge match (for taking him out early in Rome
last year).

Dimitrov serving for the set gets down 0-40. Gets it back to deuce.

Whew... Dimitrov moves on to the next round.

Chardy-Roger match is the tricky one. Chardy has always played Roger tough for some reason and has won the only clay match between them. Roger has to come out super focused. Chardy already has a match under his belt. Who knows, it might be a straight forward affair but I really doubt it.

The play may not be a straightforward affair, but the result will be. Roger is not going to
lose this. He will be very careful, knowing that Chardy took him out last year in Rome, when he
was rusty.
