Tented...Have Roger ever lost to a qualifier?
Istomin beat Djokovic in the AO 2017 in the second round and can be very good at times but he has a 0-7 record against Federer and has shit results since 2017. Istomin will be confident and match tough though after 3 wins in qualifying rounds. Giving a set or any sort of hope against a confident qualifier could be costly so Federer will need to be sharp but hard to see him losing really unless his fitness is seriously poor which I doubt.

DJokovic's been picking up Med's bad habits and temper! Nole wants perfection in his play and seems to resent opposition actually testing him! He's broken a lot of rackets in the last few weeks; esp. if he drops a set!
Thank goodness Uncle Toni is not his coach :)

Toni probably would have given Nole the spanking that he obviously missed in his early upbringing
Well I know how he feels! Back in the day I believed any shot was possible! If I thought I could make a winner from hitting the ball from behind the back, I could make it! If I missed, Heaven help the stick I was carrying! Wood rackets were a dime a dozen way back when so I went thru a few! The problem was after the new tech came out, they got more expensive, but it didn't stop the smashing! I stopped counting at 65 rackets! Some were just given away or sold because they didn't suit my aggressive game! That may seem like a lot of rackets to go thru, but for someone who played every day all day, it was no biggie! Lucky I had a family that could support such a gentlemen's sport of elitist snobs! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Lover's of clay court tennis (which I am one) Former Aussie tennis player Paul McNamee has launched a clay court ode "Welcome to the Dance",ahead of what he calls a historically significant Roland Garos. The greatest shot in tennis? the Nadal forehand according to Paul McNamee.Paul says it is not about Rafa winning his 14th title at Roland Garos, more significant is that Rafa has a chance to win his 21st Grand Slam title which puts ahead of Roger Federer, maybe Rafa has another chance to win another title at Roland Garos next year. All eyes will be on Rafa at Roland Garos with history in the making in 2021.

If you broke 66 rackets. You still deserve to get your ass whipped too..

A contributing factor was during those Borg years in the 70's, I tried to emulate his game for teaching purposes! I bought his rackets and strung them at 76# (the year) which was at least 16#'s over recommend! By playing everyday, whether I smashed them or not, they were going to collapse into themselves! I was still able to play my aggressive game, but I had to commensate for the very tight strings which caused some frustration initially until I got used to it! It probably accelerated my "feel or touch" when I went back to normal tensions! :)

Goodness me did you suffer from blisters with that string tension?

Funny you mentioned that. I was very young but had my prized Donnay wood composite rackets strung with Blue Star nylon strings at 70 plus too.

Early on I wore a glove, but after a while even that wasn't enough! I was going thru tennis and golf gloves faster than rackets! My hand toughened up a little, but finally cushiony "wraps" for the grips came out! I was never without a roll of that blue stuff! EVen though I haven't played in over 20 years, I have 2 tough patches in my right hand; middle finger and thumb! Not as pronounced, but I can still feel something there! I played more tennis than today's pros believe it or not! There was nothing I wanted to do more than play the game and I was lucky to have plenty of people who wanted to work out or compete against me! I'd leave one player and the next to reserve the court asked me to play! Technically I probably should have said no and kept on with the other, but I didn't! I literally lived on the courts from 8-9 AM into the night under the lights! I traveled back to the old neighborhood and people would comment they'd watch me from those early days! I had no idea who these people were, but they certainly knew and heard of me even after 40 years! :)

I'm obviously a little older! I played with Borg's original woody from Bancroft! It was thicker than some other rackets and held up pretty well to the tensions! They lasted longer than the Wilsons, Dunlops, & Slazenger rackets! I went thru a lot of them! :face-with-tears-of-joy:

It was a passion like no other! Nothing but my work has even come close; including people! It was very expensive hobby with the rackets, balls, clothes, shoes, accessories, court time, and travel! I think my parents appreciated me doing that than hanging out on the street with thuggish friends like my brother! He's a certifiable idiot to this day and I was proud enough to not cause them grief that was to come from my cretinous sibling! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
