This is too harsh on Sinner. I thought he played a truly amazing first 8 games. However, when you hit every shot 100 mph it can fall apart quickly as it did. He doesn’t have any other choice if he wants to win though

He would be okay if he just served it out. It seems like a mental issue to me, failing to close a set against Rafa for a third time now. He looked just fine before that crucial game.

Can't hold serve worth a damn anymore and too error prone in general. Not just in this match.

My point was Nadals behaviour/reaction after getting a 3-easy- error-and-DF-present to stay in this 1st set.
He coudnt stay cool enough and since that melting down.

Yup. It's like he clocked out after failing to win the first set, succumbing to his fate. Gonna be a scoreline like the last 3 from Musetti now even though he's not injured. Just between the ears.

Can someone tell me why Mussetti retired? I have just got home from work,impressed with my Italian youngster,who I feel has more upside that Jannik,even Jannik has admitted Musetti is more talented than himself.I have recorded the match which I will watch later.

I agree that he is even more talented than Sinner. For sure has way more variety in his game. Will be interesting how he translates his game to faster surfaces as he looks like a natural clay courter, while Sinner is more of a HC guy.

Thanks Don,I thought winning those 2 sets and his age factor, fitness,also playing on the big stage at RG and against Novak,would be the telling case in set No 3.

He is young,his fitness will improve with time,playing a match like he did,he knows now what he has to work on.

Sinner's performance today was disappointing at least. He clearly has a problem serving out a set and from there on there was only a downfall.

His serve is just terrible for a player of that height and no variety in the game is not helping him at all. He is just punching the ball with no plan B.

Agree his serve needs attention,his 2nd serve is just woeful at times.He does need variety in his game,remember that scenic route he took against the Frenchman,who showed his lack of variety in his overall game.
