Well Zverev pulls it out 6-4 in the 5th but it was not a pretty match to say the least. Again high school tennis with multiple breaks of serve. Being extended to 5 in an early round by a doubles specialist.

With Zverev I just feel he has the arrogance but not the belief . Arrogance is good: you have to know you can beat anybody at anytime playing your best. It's the feeling that the match is on your racket, regardless of your opponent. For as much as Rafa or Federer can be "nice" they have that arrogance.

Zverev has fantastic tennis skills so he knows he can control a match ; However Zverev seems to lack the belief that he can pull out of his best tennis when he really needs it. That why it seems too many times in these Majors he plays down to the level of a lower ranked opponent.

I remember reading one of Sasha's press conference and he actually admitted that sometimes during matches he thinks what he will have to eat for lunch? I kid you not:)

Nadal is flating the ball out in his matches with his forehand so don't think this RG is bad at all for Nadal like people are saying, its really going to be hard for anyone who play Nadal with a even slower court balls ect.... his looking good for 13th RG title in my opinion.

A lot of breaks of serve on clay are more common, and I still think there have been a particular lot in this RG. Anyway, I agree that arrogance is not a terrible thing, if it translates to belief. Zverev has had serving yips, so that is psychological, and now he's got Ferrer, for discipline and a good head. I hope that helps him.

Anyway, I'm glad he pulled it out today. Would have been a bad loss.

keep watching the weather tho..low pressure alex is going to be hovering around, although now thursday could be ok. a big flabby low just on its axis like a catherine wheel of cloud/rain/showers/wind.

OMG, Shapo served for the match twice against Carballes Baena, and he just lost...this is a heartbreaker like the one at the USO. He had this match. Got a bad call late in the 5th, too. Too bad.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a men’s tournament where so many players get broken serving for the match.

You expect it going up against a top player! Federer on clay was down 5-1 in a 3rd set TB and Deliciamo Lopez whiffed on a sitter overhead and preceded to allow Roger to come all the way back to win in an early RD. Hamburg (IIRC) match! Of course it can happen to anyone and has occurred with Fedalovic; sometimes in majors! It's more noteworthy due to 24/7 breaking news! Back in the day you had to search for tennis results; the majors where you got extended highlights and scores! Now a rinky-dink event can garner news exposure thru social media and the other players! :good:

Next Gen. players have been choking NON-STOP over the last few weeks, but at least they're young and can fix it.

We said that about the "lost gen" of Milos, Kei, & Grigor! All the talent in the world and barely a major final played; Dimitrov monikered as "Baby Fed!" That couldn't have helped with him styling as his hero; causing unnecessary UFE at the worst possible times! He's correcting his serve from that silly hitch he was copying from Roger at least! Cilic picked up a USO back in '14 with tons of upsets along the way for Fedalovic saving total embarrassment for that group of players!
