Varillas plays fearless tennis. I've seen him play a few times already (on streams or TV), mostly challengers. About two or three years ago, he started to sweep the clay south american challengers. He jumped from outside #400 to inside #150 in a couple of months. It seemed he would keep climbing and reach at least around #50, but as with a lot of other up and comers from this part of the world, he stalled from some reason. He also was not playing that much for a while, but I just checked his ranking history and basically kept inside the #150 ever since. I watched parts of his match against RBA, still the same player, very aggressive. Who knows if the next jump is not happening right now...

He will give much more of a fight than people think. I had him beating HH in my bracket at first, but later on went for the safer pick... chicken shit.

Ofner is a good player, I have seen him play twice. Both times I had the feeling he should be ranked higher than he is (but rankings don't lie...).

Hey......is Novak becoming a "Hypochondriac' with all these too many injuries to name? seriously
Well, he does cop to the fact that, now that he's older, his body isn't the same. But the constantly saying he's injured, except not so injured, is irritating.

Here's the poop on his Taopatch:

Iron Man Djokovic lol! he still doesn't give much away to his magic potions, now magnets pressed to his chest,
Well to me if you turn up for a match your fit to play,, period, of course you can sustain a injury in a match, still constantly saying your injured is irritating, agree with your thoughts.

It makes a lot of sense, coming from a Nadal fan, or troll.

It's actually coming from a tennis connoisseur. :bye:

You as a Federer fan should know more than anyone that Djokovic beat him including at Wimbledon by just being a pusher, a wall, and outlasting him physically and mentally. It wasn't because he had more power, more finesse, more diversity, etc. Nope, it was due to the most boring kind of tennis.

You do have to wonder what is going on in Dennis head these days after playing Carlitos. Yes, I know clay is not his strong suit but no suspense per the outcome, he was so clearly outmatched.

Time waits for no one, was it really back in 2017 when as an 18 year old Shapovalov upset the #1 in the world Rafa at the Canadian Masters and became the youngest Masters 1000 semi finalist in the Open era and at one point was the youngest player in the top 100?. Won’t name names but some posters still with us pronounced it was only a matter of time before the kid won a Major, etc, etc. SO much promise then. Dennis with the enthusiasm of youth pronounced his goal was to “be the best”.

Now he’s carved out a respectable top 30 career, but Dennis is 24 years old, struggling with some injuries and inconsistent results, and in tennis years is approaching “middle age”. Besides Alcaraz, other young’uns such as Rune, Sinner, Mussetti, have also skipped past him in the rankings, and but even more telling his contemporaries, Rublev, Medvedev and Tsitsipas are clearly a rung above him. At first it was he's young, he'll mature . yada yada..but he never seemed to add to his game other than continuing to hit the crap out of the ball (Heck, these days Khachanov does that consistently better) More young bucks are coming up. So one can only speculate, again at 24, if the heady dreams of becoming the top player and champion is as steadfast in Dennis these days or if he subconsciously will settle to playing out (very lucratively) a tennis career in the middle tier. No shame in that, but again, time stops for no man.

It's not a magnet. It's an acupressure nanotechnology, and I think crystals are involved. The sine qua non as to why he's still in the tournament, according to him. Still not sure why it has to be changed. Do the crystals run out? Personally, I don't see why he doesn't go back to the cap and put tinfoil in it.

Okay, it did look like a magnet to me lol! Keiren made a good point, maybe because when he sweats he has to change it? I dont think crystals run out? his team is always coming up with new age cutting developments are they? I wonder if Pepe is still around? because the crystals would be something I imagine he would have suggested, just my thoughts

I was thinking the same thing. It must be galling to have been the Next-Big-Thing, until you're not, and watch so many younger players pass you. He seems never to add any finesse to his game beyond see ball/hit ball.

If he sweats and has to change it, he still put it on his sweaty body. How would that help? And I'm making a joke about "crystals running out." I actually don't see why it looked like a magnet, at all. It looked like a medication patch to me, as much as anything. It's wafer-thin. What magnet is that thin?

They're already quoting him on their website from what he's said that I quoted above.. (It's an Italian company, so this part is only in Italian.) https://www.taopatch.com/blog/djokovic-usa-nanotecnologia-taopatch-sport/

This is in English what it claims to be. https://taopatch.co

Yes it is a medication patch, just reading the link you sent me, well it does have a lot of healing properties and uses for all types of complaints

I don't think it's a "medication patch," per se. I think it's supposed to have acupuncture aspects, and then some power to convert energy into light, or something like that.

Shap's just the Canadian Kyrgios! Very flashy, can hit winners from anywhere in the court, but the consistency will never be there IMO! Hottie though! He might go on a nice run ever so often, but I doubt he'll stay in the top 10 more than a few months w/ all the talent out there like Alcaraz, Rune, & other newbies coming along who've already surpassed him! :exploding-head: :thinking-face::astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Ok now there is proof…..

All kidding aside, Novak’s recuperative powers in a match where he’s struggling are uncanny…..

A real bummer than Alcaraz and Musetti have to face this early on. Musetti won their only previous ATP tour meeting and I'm torn between who I want to win, however I feel that Alcaraz is a safer bet to take out Djokovic in a possible SF so I guess I'll be rooting for him. :good:

It's crazy that Alcaraz has to go through Shapovalov, Musetti and possibly Tsitsipas before the SF, while Djokovic has nobodies.
