This from The Guardian on the change improvement in Rafa's forehand over the past year: "On the subject of Nadal’s trademark shot, Eurosport showed an interesting graphic highlighting a sharp increase this year in the number of Nadal forehands exceeding 3,000 rotations per minute. Last August, the Spaniard was hitting just 22% of his forehands at 3,000-plus rotations, a far cry from his heyday. This month, that figure has been 77%. In other words, the massive topspin Nadal generates at his best – which makes his shots so difficult to return with interest – is back with a vengeance."

Why do you think this is Mox? He looked like he put back on some of that muscle that was seemingly lost...could account for it?

Who is the man wearing a blue shirt sitting next to Moya today during Nadal' match?

I don't know if he's put back muscle mass, but he was having wrist problems. So if he's healthy now, as he seems to be, he'll have more confidence in the wrist, which he needs to generate spin.

Rafa seems to have a very straightforward way through to the semis:

According to seedings:

R1 - Paire
R2 - Haase or de Minaur
R3 - Simon (31)
R4 - Sock (14) / Bautista Agut (17)
QF - Raonic (5) / Dimitrov (11).

In R1 & R2 he doesn't have the easiest opponents he could have faced, but it's not as though they will pose a threat to him. There is no one I see in his quarter who has any chance to upset him; RBA could be the most dangerous clay-court player in the quarter, but he has no way of hurting Nadal.

Of course, the winner of the projected QF Djokovic v Thiem is likely to be a sterner test in the SF.

With both Simon and Sock doing Frexit, Rafa would not even have to sweat until he reaches QF. Sometimes, it is not actually good for the player to have so many easy matches in a row, as it does not help them to become match tough. However, it would not affect Rafa as he has logged plenty of match practice this year in general and in the clay court warm-ups this year.

Zverev is showing some pretty good wheels out there. Fiasco is working him out and he's had to defend quite bit.
