Tennys Sandgren lost to Kukushkin. I was hoping for a better performance from the Tennysman.

In the category of "Winning one against The Man," Paul Henri Mathieu, in his last year on tour, was denied a WC by the French Federation. (He was once ranked as high as #12.) So he got through the hard way, and qualified. He plays Goffin tomorrow.

What happened? Wasn't Tomic supposed to be the next great player from "Down Under?" He has the tools; must be a head case! :banghead: :cuckoo:
Tomic is like a cautionary tale. I actually feel rather badly for him, as his father seems to have been a terrible influence and burden. I thought he could have been at least a solid top 20 guy. It'll be interesting to see what he's made of going forward for getting a nest egg out of his career, and salvaging enough credibility to make a post-tennis career in commentating and/or coaching. Frankly, I think that's the best he can hope for.

Djoker and Rafa both on for the second match, on Chatrier and Lenglen respectively.

Zverev plays the last match of the day on Chatrier against Verdasco. That match might have some potential.

Paire is a good player, but if you buy him for what he is worth, and sells him for how much he thinks he is worth, you become millionaire...

I lost count of how many draws of mine he destroyed, one way or another...
That guy for me is Jeremy Chardy...whether I pick him to win or lose. I'm shocked about Sock, though. And Simon is out, rather less shocking, and Nadal's section lightened up rather a lot.

It's unfortunate for Sock, but it's been happening since I started watching tennis well over 40 years ago! Tennis is one of those sports that no matter how much you win, train, practice, and breath the game, long term consistency is only achieved by a select few! That's why "The Big 4" are so revered! Even Connors still gets his "props" after all these years since he holds the record for tournaments won at 109! He's at the top in that one stat and can't be overtaken unless Grandpa Fed continues this great run and falls under obvious "suspicion!" :demon:

Verdasco playing well, doubtful that this will finish tonight.
