I haven't seen the match but I see Muzz has won pretty easy the 'new gem'. Good for him, I don't know if he will reach the finals in RG but if he is playing well he will be a tough contender in Wimbledon

Saw the first set. Kachanov was overpowering and out-playing Murray, but he simply could not maintain the level needed to beat a top guy. The first set was decided on Kachanov's UFE's.

Murray had the virtue of keeping his cool, mantaining a reasonable level (and stringed two wonderful returns, but most highlights play were from Kachanov). Again, all this related to the first set only.

In other news, Wawrinka wins the first against Monfils. Yes!

Meanwhile there are two 'bubble heads' on court, Monfils and Verdasco. The first one his injuries and head haven't allow him to be better player and the second one just his head because I don't remember to see him with any injury, what a waste of talent :-(

There is nothing that Verdasco can not do. He can go from 6-0 in the first set, to 0-6 in the fourth. That's real entertainment.

Glassikori eats a bagel (guess he needed a grain boost to play today) and then delivers one to his opponent in the 4th. o_O

I'm glad that Muzz kept his cool because sometimes he can't. But anyway when the 'old ones' are playing well the 'nextgen' are still showing to be in pampers

Why I like Mary Carillo:

Jim Courier: "Monfils playing the wind well, the wind is at his back..."
Mary: (aside) "And sometimes whistling between his ears...."

I don't see Monfils fighting in a fourth or fifth set because he never has had a good resistance like Stan always has so I can figure who is going to win this match

If it was not for Carreno Busta, we could've ALL Top 8 seeds in the Quarterfinals...

Other than one quarterfinal match, the Quarterfinals looks very interesting in paper.

Murray-Nishikori
Wawrinka-Cilic
Thiem-Djokovic

All of these matches COULD potentially be great matches.

Wish FO coverage was on ESPN. Would have no need to watch online because of no Tennis Channel subscription. :)

The tennis channel was showing an excerpt over the weekend from players pressers.
Stan was asked: Everyone is talking about Nadal, Djokovic and other players in regards to winning this title. Have you noticed no one is talking about you?
His answer: I don't care if no one is talking about me, I know what I can do. :finger:

He moves into the QF after a straight set win over Le Monf.

I think they might switch over to NBC after this round.

There has been occasional NBC coverage, but not as much as ESPN. The WatchESPN stream is great, where I can catch up on most of the matches and replays.

How predictable is this tournament? Seven of the eight quarterfinalists are among the top eight seeds, with the one (Carreno Busta) being a clay specialist who replaced a slow big server (Raonic).

But hopefully we'll see some good matches in this next round.

Nishikori - Murray: Andy is playing his best in awhile and he gets the edge, but I still think this could go either way, and it could be a five-setter.
CIlic - Wawrinka: I'd be really surprised if Stan didn't win this.
Nadal - Carreno Busta: Duh.
Djokovic - Thiem: Should be the match of the round. I'd like to see Thiem pull it off, but Novak is playing well.
