Very poor game from Nishikori there.

It's not unusual for Kei to start off slowly! He can still get into this match! :nono  :dodgy: :p

Can't see it tonight personally. His serving is shite.

I'd say if Andy is playing Novak, Andy may win one for once.

Novak's loyalty to his friends can be troublesome. No way he should be playing doubles with a bad arm, but there he was all week with Tipsy. They lost today in three. This will be Andy's best chance.

Watched enough of this personally. Go commit harakiri, samurai. This is woeful tonight apart from a few nice shots here and there. Can't hold serve at all.

Nadal needs to find something resembling a serve, because it seems like he's playing at a double handicap at the moment. The first being his opponent's serve, the second being his own serve. Add to that a shaky baseline game and you have something that's becoming sad.

I mean I get confidence is lacking, movement is inconsistent, forehand is erratic, etc... But is there a reason he's not at least trying to hit his serve a little bigger? I understand because he's not confident, he just wants to place it in but this is clearly not cutting it against anyone worth a damn. Just go after it. If it misses, well, the result is the same anyway.

I use to tell my students, "the serve is all about confidence!" If you can perfect your serve, it's one less thing you have to worry about and the rest of your game can improve, elevate within a match, and be sustained in the crunch! Without that, you'll be thinking about it and that isn't a place you want to be! Back in the day, you could make your career around being a good server; look at IVO! I wasn't tall, but I had long arms and I jumped into court to get a lot of free points! The serve was just one less thing to stress on in a match! :dodgy: :p

Dude, I wrote about this years about regarding Rafa needing to serve with attitude and confidence.. not one person said a da#n thing . Rafa attack the ball at its highest point and needs to throw his body into his serve and and finish with a landing of with his right foot forward( the reverse for a righty. I have said all along he needs to get a serving coach or consultant added to his team but it constantly gets poo poo here by.. " Oh he has won so many titles with Toni..blah blah.. So I say So be it.

Kei is limping pretty much. Something is off.

Yeah, Murray is playing great, but Kei, not so much.

His calf was giving him grief for a good while before this tournament and he's as brittle as a match stick. Guy's made of glass. It's a fairly physical match with a lot of running in high humidity. He's probably never gonna be able to string together a series of matches at this rate unless he bulks up a ton and puts a bit of meat on his boney frame. Shame really.

I agree,I always has said that Rafa with a good serve would have been unstoppable. I remember that USO with that good serve, what a beautiful game by him in all the ways

Commentators said once Murray noticed Nishikori was injured he kept making him run to his right. Probably his calf again. Still, Murray played very well too but there's no way Kei was gonna be bagelled unless something was up. He didn't even move for the last few serves Murray hit.

That will be Kei's undoing; he's very fragile! He will be broken down like the rest of these baseliners who work too hard to win the simplest match against 'also-rans' and 'nobodies!' Sometimes you have to push yourself and take those weak shots out of the air before backing up to play a pathetic groundstroke to continue the point! :cover :puzzled :nono
