I have to say, I’m a little bit curious about Carlos breaking the racket. He probably needs a rest, and playing the Hopman Cup in retrospect was likely a bad idea. He’d just won Wimbledon and he turns up for an exo? I hope he focuses on the USO and conserves himself for that.

But breaking the racket is an odd thing for him to do. I hope it’s not going be a pattern. It’s definitely not a good thing..

I agree. But I see it as pressure driven. He's the hunted now and while most of us are all enamored w/ his talent and abilities, we have to remember he is human. He hasn't been on top as long as the Big3 so he isn't really comfortable navigating these waters yet. When to tell people no to various commitments, etc. How and when to practice, do training blocks, etc. All thoughts about your normal routine changes when you're in the spotlight plus the expectations are greater.

He’s going to have the first next-level pressure of being who he is when he arrives in New York. Having to defend a GS title is a huge step for him - bigger I’d say than what he faced in Paris and Wimbledon because this year he arrives in New York as champion, and most likely world number one.

Losing in Paris we can put down to inexperience, and he was expected to lose in Wimbledon. But the USO this year will be the first slam he enters where he’s expected to win..

Wow Foki hit a brick wall today in the wind. He was lambasted in this match and D-Minor makes his first M1000 final.
Fun Stat for D-Minor,

Alex de Minaur is the first Aussie man into Toronto final since Pat Rafter in 2001 and will try to be the first Aussie champion since Rafter in '98.

But it is black & white on every given occasion. Even your example above, Nadal doesn't normally drop F bombs on court. But that day he did and he was held accountable. That's black & white. The frequency of a behavior doesn't negate whether it is bad behavior or not.

So what you're saying is you rate bad behavior in degrees. But life doesn't work that way. Something is either good or it's bad. Whether it's a little bad, doesn't stop it from being bad. It's still bad. It's like being a little pregnant or a little unemployed. There are no such things. You either are or you're not.
I'm not saying an individual act is not black or white, in and of itself. My point is that a one-off here and there doesn't make the player a bad person, or a "black hat." That comes when there is repeated patterns of poor behavior.

Well it didn't take long to start making excuses for Carlito's bad behavior! I personally didn't care! It's an emotional game! Novak can't catch a break!

I missed the fact that he broke a racket. He must be under pressure.

I was also suprised that he went to play that Hopman Cup. He would benefit much more if he took a much needed rest away from tennis, somewhere on the yacht in Spain for 2 weeks, then come back recharged and fresh for american HC swing. I guess he will learn with time how to best manage his schedule and find the right balance between tennis and the life.

Now explain to me patiently WTF Novak had to do with a post about Chaz? And then step back and explain the excuses. I’m not making excuses. I’m condemning, bro..

Don,
Apparently you had to sign up for the Hopman Cup before Wimbledon, I guess he was committed, in hindsight it wasnt a good decision, a learning curve going forward his his career
To me the Hopman Cup is stuffed I wished they left in Western Australia, the players loved it before competing at the AO. I have also visited the Hopman Cup it was great

That’s it. It was a local event that drew players who were hungry for activity. It was situated perfect on the calendar..

Congratulations 1st Masters final and Now passes Kyrgios highest ever Ranking of 13th#.

De minaur 12th in the live Rankings.

Alex is a player and person Australia can be proud of unlike that Kyrgios brat.

He will be tough to beat no matter who he faces in the final. This isn't a gimme for Sinner.

And he's already broken to start. He needs to calm that weight of expectation. Tommy has already shown he can figure out how to keep the young guns quiet, if he has the confidence to play his game. I don't think he'll pull it off again today, but who knows?

The bad thing right now about Sinner is that he is thinki(ng) about those expectations.

The good thing right now about Sinner is that he is thinki(ng) about those expectations.

Let's see if starts to calm down a little bit.

After the big 3 I’m wondering if the ATP tour will resemble college football:

On any given Saturday an Established powerhouse is vulnerable to a pumped to the gills minor football program.

That is not necessarly a bad thing as college football is crazy fun…

Bad news is that he just gave back the break. Just when I thought he'd calmed down.

I do love college ball more than the NFL, by a lot. I'm not sure I see the analogy, though. A little help?
