FAA losing to silent K is not a bad loss.. Silent KK is a grown ass Man who can hit through everybody but Roger and Novak.( I know Rafa has defeated him a few times but it's has been a loss because he is pretty beaten up afterwards). FAA is still growing into his body and he will learn how to play of a player the caliber.of Silent KK. .Bravo FAA and Silent KK

I hate to say it, but I see good things happening with the guy! He's a "Safin clone;" Russian, good looking, tall, powerful, and has limitless potential! He just needs some seasoning; already getting a taste of success with his Paris Masters win over Djokovic last fall!

Oh, I agree that even beyond local pressure, he's got to be feeling it. He wants it, too. He's got stuff to work on, like that 2nd serve, but the DFs also had to do a lot with pressure. Plus, give KK his due...he's also and up-and-comer.

If he can figure out the 2nd serve and double faults, then he will really be in full flight mode. I think currently he is forcing himself to hit big second serves instead of naturally just hitting it. He probably thinks that if he does not hit a big or good second serve he will lose the point. But in reality, he has a good baseline game so even if he does not hit a good second serve he has the baseline game to back his serve.

He's a kid, and Khachanov is no schlub. Maybe local pressure, but he's coming along nicely.
this kid is good and is improving he lost this match because of the doublefaults and humidity seemed to be affecting him.I know Montreal is very humid this time of the year...

He does not look like Querrey at all.
Not face wise, nor body wise.

It is definitely an issue of technique. He is netting the ball when he double faults, not that he hits harder.

As odd as it is, it can be a confidence issue. Serve motion is extremely dependent on body/shoulder rotation, which increases if you get "tight". The end result is netting your serve. Believe me, I know that

I believe you. I just didn't agree with @rafanoy1992 who said he tries to hit big on his second serve.

I could not watch, but what a good result by Medvedev. Takes out Thiem easily. It could be his break out in a big event.

FAA needs to learn how to use his lower core to launch and thrust himself upwards to propel his swing to go over the net ..

Lots of people peg him as the next #1 post this era.
I am not in that camp.

I haven't really seen anyone say that and for good reason. He's generally a layup off clay. Not sure how Roger allowed himself to lose to this ham sandwich at IW but aside from that result he is a clay court specialist.

So glad Daniil took out this Austrian guy. Hope Fabio eliminates Bull!

Yeah , how could he. Even on clay there are better player. Still think even the fake German is stronger when came back to his real level.

Haven't you?
Pay attention to all the threads out there, there is one of them called: " who will be the next non big three number #1, where Thiem got 4 votes.

A bit late to talk about double faulting but as an expert I though I should weigh in. For some reason the second serve can be the ficklest shot. I can hit a forehand, backhand, and first serve relatively easily in pressure situations, but the second serve kills me. Nobody wants to give a free point to their opponent.. When I am under pressure, I just can't get the spin and it goes careening bast the baseline. Then I try and put extra spin and it bounces before the net. I think it's also in my head. Once I get into those pressure situations I tense up a ton and am sure I am going to miss it. As a result I do. I have even resorted to Kyrgios style first serves on the second although this isn't because of surprise. The first serve is just more likely to go in. I don't know if this is anything like what is happening to the pros, but I know their pain.
