I guess he wants to avoid to lose too many pts and become N°4
Nah. Top 4 is all he would be working to protect. 2, ,3, 4...all the same. He might be motivated to protect dropping from the top 4 looking forward to Roland Garros.
I am most interested to see if he can weather all of his matches this week, however many there may be. One of his most interesting stats is the fact that he has never retired out of a professional tennis match. Never.
If he does become hobbled during a match, will he stay on court and take the beating or concede?
True disaster. Hopefully he can play both grass warmups or this is looking like a lost season.
For sure, everyone should take a moment to appreciate a 65 consecutive Major streak.Sad to see the streak broken, but I guess it had to happen at some point. Looking at @masterclass stats, it reminds you what a phenomenal career it's been.
The silver lining is that this might be a blessing in disguise. Roger's clay season was in tatters already and he wasn't going to feature in the business end at Roland Garros in my opinion... not with such little tennis under his belt. More time to practice on grass and prepare for Wimbledon, which is realistically (IMO) is the tournament that gives him his last real shot at winning a major, either this year or next.
Hi y'all! I've been absent since forever, but had to visit to say how sad I was to hear Roger's announcement today. It was inevitable that one day his Slam streak would end but still disappointing. I hope that he is better by Wimby time so that he can make a good run, and who knows - win it once more!
I haven't followed a lot of the tournaments this year - been a bummer of a year for Fed fans.
Hope any and everyone who remembers me is doing well and enjoying tennis!
