You should ask them, not me. I say what I've read many times from them, the same as Novak doesn't like to play in Madrid which he has skipped for two years

I can't ask Roger, as I have no access to him. This is a fan forum, and we theorize, so I can only ask you, since you've decided that Roger is skipping Miami out of disrespect. Which you have no back-up for. I have to call *bullshit* on this. You are, as usual, trying to denigrate a rival of Rafa's. What is the big deal if Roger skips Miami, and decides to go back to work in April? And rather than a proper response, you deflect to "Novak doesn't like to play in Madrid." Newsflash: neither does Nadal.

What are you talking about? my goodness, my English is not so good but I don't think it's dificult to understand what I said. I NEVER said that I think Federer doesn't like to play in Miami, what I SAID is that his fans have that opinion and NOT ME! do you understand now? my opinion, AGAIN, is that he has to take care with his knee and waiting until to be ready to play.
Your comment is out of context saying that me, as usual trying to denigrate a rival of Rafa's, who? Roger? really? well, that words you should dedicate to his fans who LIKE so much to denigrate Nadal because the H2H and fear that he could reach that famous number '17'
And about Novak after that match three years ago in Madrid against Dimitrov and the stadium full of people of his country, Bulgaria, boooooing Novak, it's very clear than this.last one doesn't want to play there anymore, word!
Denigrate nothing, just facts!

You said this: "If Roger doesn't like to play here who knows what are his reason but the 'surface' is just an excuse." You implied that Roger doesn't like to play in Miami, and you didn't attribute that idea to the fans. That sentence does tell us your feelings about it. Forgive me if you had no other agenda by saying it. But your opinions are very clear. Your English is not an issue. You have no reason to hide behind it. You also shouldn't mistake opinions for "facts."

You are wrong again an again, according to his fans he doesn't like to play in Miami and ONE OF THE REASONS is because the surface is slow but if it's true I think it's just an excuse, that's my clear agenda and something that can't offend to anyone but I think that you always are trying 'de sacar tres pies al gato' ( to complicate matters about everything I say) pity!

What do you think it's an excuse for, then? Not really surface, not business conflicts, according to you.

Because been in the 30's I don't think he wants to play two tournaments in row so if he plays in IW then he skips Miami and I don't blame him but not because the surface is slow like his fans say, IW is maybe slower but there is not so much humidity

Thanks for the reply, Carol. I'm not sure about the surfaces, IW v. Miami, but the desert air lets the balls fly more. Plus, IW is first. If you think about it, there are only 3 times when MS 1000s come in consecutive weeks: IW/Miami, Madrid/Rome, and Canada/Cincy. However, the first pair is the only one that doesn't lead directly into a Major in the same surface group. This can put Miami in a difficult position, vis-a-vis top players, especially ones like Roger and Rafa who have the longevity pass to skip one or two. In any case, I think Roger has a very good case for working on his recovery and waiting for the clay season. As I said before, I think it would be unwise of Roger to play one HC event and then switch to clay. And he's never been criticized for stupid scheduling choices.

Roger is doing a smart thing, everybody knows that clay is more safe for the knees than HC. I would have been very surprised if he would have played in IW or Miami, too early because he probably needs some therapy treatments and rest, otherwise he could have problems later

I was a little surprised by that, though it's a good sign in his recovery. I thought it wouldn't be worth coming back for one HC tourney, then switching to clay. But he's always been smart about his scheduling, so I expect he knows what's best.

I guess he wants to avoid to lose too many pts and become N°4

Or maybe he feels good enough to compete, and simply wants to play.

And maybe he knows he can gain a lot of points in Miami to go up in the rankings since he didn't play in Miami last year, so he defends 0..

Murray didn't look that good this past week, though he doesn't usually play that well in Indian Wells anyway, and in Miami, defends finals points (600).
If Roger can help take that away from him, all the better for him. I believe he needs a swing of 680 points to move ahead of Murray.

Simply put, if Roger can make it to at least the QF and does better than Andy by at least one round, I believe he will move into #2 spot.
So Miami is a good opportunity for Federer.

Respectfully,
masterclass

I'm sure Federer wants to earn some new points. When the new ATP list comes up today, there will be bigger difference in ATP points between No1e and Federer than between Federer and me, or you if you like. Honest.
