He should be ashamed of himself.

It's plain and simply "gutless play!" All the "also-rans" of this era should be ashamed of himself! I really think Nadal would have his lunch eaten by players outside the top 100 in previous eras; pressuring him to pass them again and again! He'd crack after a while; believe it! Today's players are allergic to the fabric made into nets and only venture up there periodically to take pictures at opening and closing ceremonies! :puzzled :nono  :cover

He kept stupidly hitting to the same spot and had the whole other side of the court WIDE open for the inside out forehand. Had he not missed that overhead like a complete tool and hit the ball on the match point into the open court he'd be in a tiebreaker now. What a total airhead.

Good win by Rafa but if he would be playing well (his game) the second set would have been another massacre and much easier to win.

Yeah, but don't you understand Carol, the greatest ever clay court player should be routinely losing to Almagro... :lolz: :lolz:

You forget how many balls Almagro netted and double faults, crap overheads, balls hit long instead into the open court. It's not all down to Nadal. But clearly he could've beaten him easier a few years ago, yes.

I've given him plenty of compliments in the past :p Can't stand him as you well know but his banana forehands down the line when he's playing well are mighty impressive. But I'll stop now so don't get too excited

Now we are ready for a dog fight tomorrow. If dog bites man it is not news. If dog bites bull, is it news?

I thoroughly enjoy watching Dolgo, but his attacking style doesn't match up well against Nadal.

Maybe, but that's his only chance! At least he realizes that and actually will "go for it!" I get so aggravated with Ferrer and the rest of the Spanish Armada; know each other, but insist on trying to "wait out Rafa" instead of taking it to him! Verdasco's learned his lesson and has won a couple times! Lopez has gotten his act together for the most part, but the rest still lag behind mentally! It's ok to do what you do best, but if you can't even win a set "doing it," you need to do something different! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy: :p

Another day of clear skies in Rio... (remember, yesterday I was right and the forecast wrong).

Are you going to be able to watch any of the matches?

With the night, came the rain. And it is very hard.

Tried to go there yesterday and get a ticket the tournament's ticket box, but wasn't lucky. Today I need to leave, anyway, I am at the airport right now (delayed flight). Watched 5 minutes of Pella - Gimeno Traver, on the TV of a small bar, having an extremely needed quick snack.

Sucks alright as it would've been a good match if he was healthy and now we seem likely to get Ferrer v Nadal next. :cover

Sorry for Dolgo, his last match was playing against Cervantes and they went through three sets, I don't know because his shoulder or he got the injury in that match but always is entertaining to watch him, a I can imagine with so much rain and the surface like a puddle how his unorthodox game would have been, crazy! :cover

40-0 to deuce. Thiem's gotta open up a can of whoopass. Way too much slop. Awful game this. 2 double faults and tons of errors.
