Unlike in the 1st set, Martina holds now. It is 6-5 in the second set. Martina is at least assured of a TB now in the second set.

Martina wins the tie break 7-3 and thus wins a set to stay alive in the match.

Timea is not pulling her weight at all.

Martina gets a break in the deciding set.

But, as Yogi Berra said it ain't over until it is over. It is just 2-1 now for the Swiss.

Martina gets e-surance break. It is 4-1 with Swiss having to serve now.

Timea got booed for hitting a volley on Andrea (as Andrea got hurt already in the second set by Martina's volley).

Funny, on another site I got into a discussion when some dude thought that was just "part of the game!" I informed him that while playing and teaching for 30 years and playing all disciplines in tournaments and socially, I can count on 1 hand being nicked by a ball! It does not have to be part of the game even if "you want to win badly!" :nono  :dodgy:

From the brink of defeat, Martina and Timea came back and won. :clap

Now, they are assured of at least a silver medal. I am glad for Martina. :celeb:

They will play the Russians Makarova and Vesnina in the final.

p.s. poor Hradecka has to play a mixed doubles match now after this match which went to almost three hours.

well KEYS left empty handed..it would have been a travestyif she had medalled playing baseball like David Ortiz..that shows how talented Serena and Venus are..they were gold medal winners at 20yrs..they played with a lot of heart...not these marginally talented prima donnas Keys Coco and Scone..
thank goodness for Simone Biles and Simone Manuel
