From the Age,

Craig Tiley asked Australia's top vaccination body if players (like Djokovic) w prior infection would be exempt and was told 'NO" twice in November.
This is wrong in so many levels

Tiley should not be begging the government, he should be strict with the players. He has made way too many mistakes and should resign. This is the 2nd year in a row where he has given incorrect information to the players

You cant tell Djokovic you are eligible to play after being told by the government that you arent

I said from the start there is a lot of 'grey' wih him having COVID in the last six months and applying for an exemption?
I mean six months ago he was travelling around and competing in tournaments? Come On Now? also that is not a valid reason for a medical exemption here..
My understanding that what we had thought was a valid reason was "within" the past 6 months, and he did have window of no play for 2 months after the USO. However, I don't believe he had it. Anyway, as we now understand, it's not a reason for an exemption. But it seems there may have been some confusion on that point. Believe me, I'm completely on the same page as you on the notion that they never should have offered a medical exemption in the first place. No vaccine, no tennis.

Exactly. If you listen to that video I posted, it clearly mentions he wasnt able to provide proof that he was exempt from a vaccination

Seeing he wasn't able to provide proof ....I doubt his legal team can show cause to have his visa over turned.

Yup, I agree but I am not a lawyer. Lets see what happens on Monday

My take is that we have seen the last of Djokovic in Australia. It feels wrong though as it's clear that Tiley messed up big here. He should have just said that if you arent vaccinated you cannot play. End of story

If I were other countries moving forward, I would direct directors these are the requirements, and you either meet them or don’t. If you don’t, don’t bother catching a plane because you will be sent home.

Bottom line is if he had covid within 6 months he should be allowed play. He also would've done himself a big favour by announcing he had a medical exemption due to catching covid within the last 6 months before all the uproar started. No idea why he left that part out. Poor move. They allow immunity certs for flying and indoor dining entry etc. What use is it being vaccinated and still getting covid anyway ? *Cough* Nadal...

Djokovic is being screwed. At least that new French guy looks like him and will keep fans happy to some degree!

TBH, I don't think it would be terrible if he were allowed to wait with his team. It's not like he's going to sneak away and blend in with the population. He's only there to play the Australian Open, and they'd notice if he did.
Thats 's what I don't understand why his team are renting a house which means they have all the documentations ok including the vaccine and Novak is going through so much trouble. There many questions to do but.......each one with his own. I hope this next Monday this serie will be finished!

Here is an article regarding the Czech player Renata Voracoa

Did you experience any problems when you went through passport control in Melbourne?
They looked at my documents carefully everywhere, but they didn't make a fuss about it. The Federal Border Service released me immediately. I only stayed with Victoria officials who sent my papers somewhere. But then they confirmed my entry into the country without any problems

She said the Czech embassy recommended her a lawyer also. She was detained yesterday and interrogated for hours :-(

It's fine for you to think that a recent case of Covid "should" be an exemption, but the fact is that it is NOT currently, in Australia, as we now understand. If this was miscommunicated to him, that is unfortunate, and this will all become more clear, one hopes. But the laws and regulations are what they are, whether you agree with them, or not. The burden of adhering to them falls on the person visiting the country. Djokovic has a team of people to help him with these things, and given the precariousness of the situation, and importance of the event in tennis and legacy terms, I would argue that someone around him should have done more homework on his behalf. Like filing for the correct visa, and making sure that all of the paperwork was air-tight.

Well they're sure not "following the science" over there. Just plain wrong.

I think honestly Tiley and Djokovic were always going to try to force the issue. If it is true, Tiley was told in no uncertain terms that Djokovic’s exemption claim would not be permitted period. I think Tiley probably told Djokovic to come just to force the issue.

Again if you listen to the video I posted, Karen clearly mentions the visa was not the issue. It was the exemption

That is not the case because 2 other people as of now were able to enter the country with the exact same documentations. Are you saying Tiley told them also to come and force the issue

There has been a huge mixup between TA, State and Federal government and all of them are pointing fingers to each other
