Correct. No guarantee he would have won, but I can tell you w/ all sincerity (you and I both know this) the ATG and multi slam champs are cut throat. They have to be otherwise they likely don't become great.

P.S. My attitude is I may not win this title but you won't be around to win it either. If it's not me, then it'll be somebody else, but it definitely won't be you. LOL!!
Unfortunately, that only works when a person is been in the business for so long and has enough experience to understand all situations.

Well that's true. He may have made a mistake but if he did, I think he made it for the right reasons. Commentators will discuss it for years...

yes maturity is part of it but it's also I think Jannik may suffer a bit from Casper scenario. He's too nice a guy. I really don't want to say that because too nice guys don't go very far in this sport and I'd like to see him gain some further traction against the old and new guard.

My own personal view is that if Sinner had tanked, Carlos would have won the tournament. These kids are inexperienced but they're going to come of age...

Do you think if Rafa had been in the same situation aged 20 he'd have tanked to ensure Roger was out?

What’s considered too of a nice guy though?

Also, Casper Ruud has made 3 Slam finals and a ATP Final championship match, so that is considered a too nice of a guy?

Don't confuse mentality w/ talent and ability. Casper did well to make those finals but never really had a chance to win any of them.

I just want to say this really quick: I am not a fan of Casper Ruud, but I respect him because he has the same Slam finals appearances as Tsitsipas and Zverev combined! And Tsitsipas and Zverev have more "talent" than Ruud in terms of shot making and rally tolerance.

That's really an unfair question because we already know what type of player he is. But cmon you know Nads better than me and already have the answer to this question: he would have been out there w/ his sleeveless shirt, pirate pants and sweaty headband running around playing a ton of defense for 3 hours in a meaningless match. :)

They definitely have more athleticism than Ruud. Talent too. But work ethic? If we compared, I imagine Caspar puts them to shame. I could be wrong.
