I think we had enough 'tanking issues' yesterday didnt we:) I declare Tank Free discussions for the rest of the ATP Finals!
Sunday or Monday for you may have wished Sinner would have tanked.. now you know who aka the ATP Boogyman gets another chance this weekend..

Fun Fact!,
For the 4th time since 1990 the World No 1, No2, No3 and No4 will feature in the SFs at the ATP Finals after 1990 ( Lendl,Agassi,Edberg and Becker)
2004 (Federer, Roddick,Hewitt and Safin) and 2020 (Djokovic,Nadal,Thiem and Medvedev) Quads.

Good stat. .this bolds well for Sinner's future because he is the ONLY one without a GS title

It will be tough for both Alcaraz and Sinner but I am excited for a potential Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jannik Sinner ATP Tour Finals championship match!
what about novak vs sinner? Novak vs med? Med vs carlos?

Oh, forget.. u can’t stand novak. Well, i at least look forward to any final..

Just finished watching Charly v Meddy, Charly has been amazing at the net,in this match, same tactic he used at Wimbledon and IW vs Meddy.

In my opinion, Sinner has accomplished a lot already especially in the past couple of weeks. He has won 7 straight matches against the Top 10 players and he has beaten Djokovic, Alcaraz and Medvedev in a span of 4-6 weeks. Those accomplishments alone should give him HUGE confidence going to 2024!

I have always said, the main goal(s) now are to remain healthy for DC AND AO 2024.

Obviously, it will be great if he finishes the 2023 with a ATP Tour finals title. However, I wouldn't sleep if he does not win the title. Unless of course he squanders some MPs or Championship points.

Just looking at some stats for Alcaraz and also Sinner which are quite identical,

Alcaraz is 11-5 vs Top Ten players in 2023
Sinner is 11-5 vs Top Ten Players in 2023 ( 7-0 in the last 7 matches)

It’s fairly interesting that there’s been no suggestion that Danii tanked. The draw looks better for him now…

:popcorn
Basically, that's what they were talking about on TC when I posted that Annacone quote, though they never say the word. At the start of the match, they said that Medvedev had "control" over who he played in the SFs. I don't think it was said here as, if you watched the match, he was just outplayed. And out-cleverer. Though he did seem to lose interest after he got broken in late in the 2nd, and just started slapping at the balls in order to get off the court. But he can be petulant, anyway.

I also read that Meddy was conserving 'energy' as he felt he didnt want to play Novak lol!

Ah so it was discussed. From his perspective, it makes sense, but only once Carlos took control. A potential 3-day slog through Carlos-Novak-Carlos would be impossible for Danii. Plus he’s more experienced at every level than Jannik.

But we’ll never know. And Jannik in the semis is no stroll in the grass, so I’d still err on the side of the players integrity and say he most likely didn’t tank it but gave it as much as he wanted to, knowing he was already qualified.

Carlos, by the way, looked very confident and aggressive today..

I just saw Sinner vs Djokovic a couple of days ago, I just saw Medvedev vs Alcaraz today and we just saw Djokovic vs Medvedev in the US Open Final so I think I am good seeing a Alcaraz/Sinner final.

In addition, Alcaraz, Sinner and Rune are the future of tennis so it will be great for the sport for those three players (and Medvedev and Djokovic) to compete for the big titles.

This is promising news, ( I am also watching HD v Zverev)
Holger Rune has confirmed that Becker will remain his coach in 2024 ( via twtter a/c)
"The plan is to continue together. We must evaluate what needs to happen. We've had some positive weeks where I've started to play really good tennis. It's small things that hopefully we can develop even more".

Yeah, spell-check didn't like that word, either, so I got lost at the end. :lulz1:
When stuck for a word, I find making one up tends to do the trick: he was out-befungled!
