McEnroe was playing out of his mind; up 2 sets to Love & up a brk. in the 3rd! He let his attn. go "walkabout" & was PO'd by photographers! Idiot!

He was up a break in the fourth, but yeah he lost focus completely. I believe he taunted Lendl at one stage but the turnaround happened because he began to get anxious and blew on the photographers as a symptom of this. Had he been able to keep this shit in himself and weathered the nerves, things would be different. I think it’s one of the greatest upsets in a GS final ever - and Lendl on his best surface was facing Mac on his worst…
